LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved
you. Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”
John
15:12-14 KJV
Are
we a friend of Jesus? If we don’t love
one another unconditionally as He loves us, we are not His friend. Not only are we not His friend, we are
hurting Him and breaking His heart. Jesus
has done so much for us and He asks so little from us. We should be willing and eager to do whatever
He asks us to do.
If
we want others to forgive us and love us unconditionally when we hurt them, we
need to forgive them and love them unconditionally when they hurt us. What about our Heavenly Father? Do we love Him unconditionally or do we just
love Him when He answers our prayers the way we want them answered?
God
sometimes doesn’t answer our prayers the way we want Him to answer them. However, we need to remember that God knows
best. He knows our future and sometimes
He has to say no because what we ask for is not good for us or is not in His
perfect plan for our life. We need to
trust Him when He says no.
How
do we lay down our life for our friends?
We may never have to die for them physically but we can die to what we
want to do. Do we always insist on going
to eat where we want to go or always doing what we want to do? Instead of going to eat where we want to go eat,
let’s go eat where they want to go.
Heavenly
Father, please help us to love others as Jesus has commanded us to love them. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
