ANOTHER REASON
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against
thee.”
Psalms
119:11 KJV
We
are to hide God’s Word in our heart so we won’t sin. However, there is another reason to hide His
Word in our heart. There may come a time
when we aren’t physically able to read our Bible. I have cataracts in both eyes and it is very
difficult for me to read even using a magnifier.
The
happiest time of my life was when I was able to kneel beside my bed and read
the Bible out loud and pray out loud. I
can’t kneel now because I have arthritis and sometimes the tears start to fall
because I miss those times so much.
Someone asked me why I read the Bible out loud. It is because of this verse.
“So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans
10:17). The Bible doesn’t tell us that
faith comes by reading. It comes by
hearing the Word of God. Think about it. What if your spouse never said “I love you”
and only wrote it on paper? It wouldn’t
mean as much to you, would it?
Heavenly
Father, thank You for loving us unconditionally and for Your love letter to
us. What a privilege is ours to read
Your Word. Please help us to hide Your
Word in our heart so we won’t sin and hurt You.
Father, I pray for every pastor.
Please encourage and comfort them.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
