THE DARKNESS OF
DESPAIR
“For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my
darkness.”
Psalm
18:28 KJV
If we have accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour, we
won’t have to live in the darkness of despair because not only is Jesus the
Light of the world, He is also the Light in our heart. It can be dark and storming outside but His
Light is still shining brightly in our heart (John 8:12).
However, there are times when we take our eyes off
Jesus and put them on our circumstances.
When we take our eyes off of our Saviour, then satan attacks us with
doubts, confusion and fear. “Thou wilt
keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in
thee.” (Isaiah 26:3).
We don’t have to live in despair because Jesus told us
that He has come that we might have an abundant life (John 10:10). May God help us to keep our eyes on
Jesus. Our precious Saviour should have
first place in our heart, in our time, in our life and in everything we do. He deserves to have the first place.
