COMPASSIONATE LOVE
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my
love. If ye keep my commandments, ye
shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide
in his love. These things have I spoken
unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be
full. This is my commandment, That ye
love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do
whatsoever I command you.”
John
15:9-14 KJV
One
of the definitions I found for compassion in Webster’s Dictionary is “a feeling
of wanting to help someone who is sick, hungry, in trouble, etc.” This definition describes our precious
Saviour. Not only does Jesus love us
unconditionally, He is also a caring tender and compassionate Saviour.
When
we are sick or can’t sleep at night and the night seems so long, Jesus sits by
our bed and holds our hand. If we will
listen with our heart we will hear Him say, “You are precious to Me. I love you and I will never leave you.” O that you and I will follow His example and
have a compassionate love for others.
Jesus
has told us that we are His friends if we do what He has commanded us to
do. Are we His friends? Are we doing what He has commanded us to
do? Jesus has commanded us to love one
another unconditionally. Do we love
others unconditionally or do we turn our love off and on like a water faucet?
Heavenly
Father, thank You for loving us unconditionally. You have comforted me and encouraged me
countless times. I love You so much and
I appreciate You. Jesus, You are so
precious to me and I love You. In Jesus’
Name, I pray. Amen.
