NO, I WON’T DO IT
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.”
John
10:10 KJV
Have
your parents ever asked you to do something and you said “No, I won’t do
it”? Have you asked your children to do
something and they said “No, I won’t do it”?
Has God asked you to do something and you said “No, I won’t do it”? What if Jesus had said to His Father “No, I
won’t do it”?
Jesus
said “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I
might take it again. No man taketh it
from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have
power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father” (John
10:17,18). Jesus didn’t have to die for
us.
God
didn’t say to His Son, “I’m kicking You out and don’t come home until You do
what I told You to do”. Jesus chose to
leave His Father, His home and all that He had to come to earth and die on the
cross for our sins so we can be saved and live in Heaven with Him for all
eternity.
I
believe that God had a long talk with Jesus before He left on His mission just
as parents talk to their children before they leave to go to college or live by
themselves. I believe God said to Jesus
while tears rolled down His face “I don’t want You to die on the cross, Son,
but there’s no other way”.
No,
God didn’t make Jesus go to the cross, Jesus chose to die for our sins. God doesn’t make us serve Jesus. How can we not serve Jesus and give Him our
heart, our life and everything we have for what He has done for us? Are you serving Jesus?
