I LOVE YOU

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I watched a family movie about a dad and son who hadn’t spoken to each other for many years.  In one of the last scenes of the movie, it showed the dad and son hugging one another and his dad said “I love you, son”. Our Heavenly Father not only loves us and tells us that He loves us, He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross so we can have our sins forgiven and go to Heaven when we die.

The Bill Gaither Trio sings the beautiful and heart touching hymn “Written in Red”.  It is one of my favorite hymns.  “In letters of crimson, God wrote His love On the hillside so long, long ago; For you and for me Jesus died, And love's greatest story was told. I love you, I love you That's what Calvary said; I love you, I love you, I love you, written in red.”  Every time I hear this hymn I get tears in my eyes to think that God loves me so much He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross for me.

We can tell people we love them but if we never do anything to prove we love them as God did for us, they are not going to believe we love them.  It is time we stop criticizing and judging others and start loving each other unconditionally just as our loving Saviour has commanded us to love one another.  May God help us to love others as He loves us.
