THE SHELTER OF HIS
LOVE
“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved
thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn
thee.”
Jeremiah
31:3 KJV
One
of the definitions in Webster’s Dictionary for shelter is “a position or the
state of being covered and protected”.
Hurricane Season starts June 1st where I live. I had to go to a hurricane shelter two
different times when hurricanes made landfall. I pray we won’t have another one make landfall
this year.
There
is another kind of hurricane. It is the
hurricane of life. This hurricane can attack us any day of the year and it can
hit us day or night. There is no
warning. When it hits us, we need to run
as fast as we can into the arms of Jesus, into the shelter of His love. The love of Jesus covers us and protects us.
Have
you ever had a day when everything was going great with no problems or
heartaches and all of a sudden with no warning at all, satan attacked you? That’s why Jesus has warned us to be on the
alert for satan because satan will try his best to discourage us so much that
we will stop serving Jesus.
We
must not let that happen. We need to
keep serving Jesus no matter how many times satan attacks us with lies and
discouragement. We read in the
Bible. “Be sober, be vigilant; because
your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may
devour:” (1 Peter 5:8).
Heavenly
Father, I pray for every person who is discouraged. Please comfort and encourage them. Thank You for loving us and for protecting
us. Thank You, precious Saviour, for the
shelter of Your love. In Jesus’ Name, I
pray. Amen.
