O THE JOY
“And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the
Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for,
behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is
Christ the Lord. And this shall be a
sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a
manger. And suddenly there was with the
angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God
in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Luke
2:9-14 KJV
Rev.
Oswald J. Smith wrote one of my favorite hymns “There Is Joy in Serving Jesus”. There really is joy in serving Jesus. We read in the Bible “Thou wilt shew me the
path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are
pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11). O
the joy we have in His presence.
I
love my family and friends but it is only when I am in the presence of Jesus
that I have the fulness of joy. I have
had the privilege of serving Jesus for ten years and there are no words to
describe the joy I feel when I am writing the devotions because I am in the
presence of Jesus. I love Jesus so much.
One
of my pastors said in a sermon “If you want to fly higher than a kite, start
bragging on Jesus.” He is right because
when I brag on Jesus I get so excited that I really do feel like I am flying
higher than a kite. If you have never
felt that joy, start bragging on Jesus today.
You will make Jesus happy.
Heavenly
Father, thank You for allowing me to serve Your Son. Jesus, I love You with all my heart. You are the joy of my heart. Thank You for dying for me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
