OUR LOVING REDEEMER
“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they
do. And they parted his raiment, and
cast lots.” Luke
23:34 KJV
Avis
Christiansen wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus. It is one of my favorite hymns. The hymn is “Blessed Redeemer”. “Father forgive them!” thus did He pray, E’en
while His lifeblood flowed fast away; Praying for sinners while in such woe No
one but Jesus ever loved so.” Those
words came from His heart.
Jesus
set an example that we need to follow when He said, “Father, forgive
them”. Can we honestly say that we ask
God to forgive those who hurt us and really mean it? Do we forgive those who hurt us? We need to remember that none of us are
perfect. All of us sin and hurt Jesus at
times.
How
dare you and I go to a Holy God and ask Him to forgive us if we’re not willing
to forgive the ones who hurt us? If we
want the ones we hurt to forgive us, we had better forgive the ones who have
hurt us. There was only one perfect
Person who ever lived or ever will live and His Name is Jesus.
Our
loving Redeemer not only shed His blood on the cross for our sins, He never
leaves us not even for one minute. O how
Jesus loves you and me. His love is
unconditional and it will never end. He
loves us as much today as He did yesterday and He will love us as much tomorrow
as He does today.
What
a Saviour, this Jesus of Nazareth ! He is the KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF
LORDS! All hail, King Jesus! Worthy is the Lamb of God. How it thrills my heart to know that one day
every knee with bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord!
