THEY ARE HUNGRY
“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them:
and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much
displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not
receive the kingdom
of God as a little child,
he shall not enter therein. And he took
them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.”
Mark
10:13-16 KJV
I
have had children come to my home and ask me for food. They were hungry because they didn’t have anything
to eat at their house. However, they
were not only hungry for food; they were also hungry for love and acceptance. We need to feed our children but we also need
to love our children.
Many
years ago, the church I was attending had a mission’s conference. The home missionary and the foreign
missionary showed slides of their work.
When I saw those slides, I wept.
Not only did the children in foreign countries look hungry and sad, the
children here in America
also looked hungry and sad.
How
sad that children here in America
are hungry for food and also hungry for love.
One day every one of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account
of how we treated children. Jesus loves
children very much and He is very protective of them. We can trust Jesus to protect our children.
Heavenly
Father, I pray that every parent will not only feed their children with food
but also with unconditional love. Please
touch the hearts of parents and children and draw them closer to one another
but especially closer to You. Thank You
for our family. In Jesus’ Name, I
pray. Amen.
