HIS LOVING TOUCH
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary , there they crucified him, and the malefactors,
one on the right hand, and the other on the left.”
Luke
23:33 KJV
One
of my favorite hymns by the Gaither Vocal Band is “The Old Rugged Cross Made
The Difference”. “Twas a life filled
with aimless desperation Without hope walked the shell of a man; Then a hand
with a nailprint stretched downward, Just one touch then a new life began.”
For
over forty years, I wandered in the darkness of a crippling devastating
depression. I hated everybody and didn’t
trust anyone. On August 14, 1980, Jesus
came to me as I lay under a bed in a mental hospital where I had crawled because
I was afraid of everyone and had no desire to live.
Jesus
put His arms of compassion and love around me and told me that He loves me and
that it was safe to come out from under the bed because He wouldn’t let anyone
hurt me and would never leave me. Jesus
has kept His Word to me. He has never
left me. Is it any wonder why I love Him
so much?
It
doesn’t matter what we did before Jesus touches us because when He died for our
sins on the cross, He shed His precious blood for our sins so we can be forgiven. His loving touch will not only take away our
sins, it will also give us a new life, a life that is filled with joy and
happiness.
