HIS WINGS OF COMFORT
AND REFUGE
“Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy
wings.”
Psalms
17:8 KJV
Pastor
William Orcutt Cushing wrote a beautiful hymn and it is one of my favorite
hymns “Under His Wings”. “Under His
wings, what a refuge in sorrow! How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often
when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort, and there I am
blessed.”
What
a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that we have
refuge and rest under His wings of love and compassion. Only Jesus can see into our heart and only
Jesus can put the song back into our heart when it has been silenced because of
criticism and sarcastic words.
If
you are discouraged and feel like giving up, tell Jesus. He understands because when He was here on
His mission I’m sure there were many times He felt like giving up when He was
criticized and cursed. Yes, Jesus
understands how we feel and He will help us if we will only ask Him to help us.
Heavenly
Father, I love You so much. Thank You
for adopting me into Your family and for giving me the privilege of serving
Jesus. I pray for all who are
discouraged, lonely and brokenhearted.
Please comfort and encourage them as You have done for me so many
times. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
