GOD’S PEACE
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things.”
Philippians
4:6-8 KJV
Rev.
Warren D. Cornell wrote one of my favorite hymns “Wonderful Peace”. I love these words. “I am resting tonight in this wonderful
peace, Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control; For I’m kept from all danger by night
and by day, and His glory is flooding my soul!”
Thank God for His peace.
What
do we think about during the day? Our
Scripture passage instructs us to think about good things. It’s no wonder at all that we are nervous and
scared if we listen to and read the news every day. Most of the news is negative and it pulls us
down rather than uplifting us.
Helen
H. Lemmel wrote the hymn “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. If we will do what the words in this hymn
tell us to do, we will have peace. “Turn
your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth
will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.” Are our eyes upon Jesus?
Heavenly
Father, You are such a precious, compassionate and loving Father. We love You.
Thank You for the peace You give us, the peace that passes all
understanding. Please comfort and
encourage all who are hurting. In Jesus’
Name, I pray. Amen.
