ONLY LOVE
“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come
unto thee on the water. And he said,
Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to
go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind
boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save
me. And immediately Jesus stretched
forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith,
wherefore didst thou doubt?”
Matthew
14:28-31
King
James Version
James
Rowe wrote one of my favorite hymns “Love Lifted Me”. I love these words. “I was sinking deep in sin, far from the
peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more, But the
Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me, now safe
am I.”
All
we have to do is ask Jesus to help us and He will help us. So many times we try to do things by
ourselves and then wonder why we fail.
We fail because we need Jesus. We
read in the Bible “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me,
and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do
nothing” (John 15:5).
Only
the love of Jesus can help us when we are going through a dark valley. We can trust Jesus to help us because what He
says, He will do. He has promised that
He will never leave us. “Let your
conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye
have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews
13:5).
If
you are discouraged and feel like giving up, allow Jesus to help you. He will be faithful to pick you up in His
loving arms and carry you until the pain goes away and He will set you once
again on the mountain top of happiness.
Jesus loves you so much He died for you.
Yes,
only the unconditional love of Jesus can help us when we are hurting. If you are reading this devotion, know that
Jesus loves you unconditionally. There
is nothing you can do that would make Him stop loving you. He loved you yesterday. He loves you today and He will love you forever.
