HAVE WE SURRENDERED
EVERYTHING
“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he
hath, he cannot be my disciple.”
Luke
14:33 KJV
Judson
W. Van DeVenter wrote one of my favorite hymns “I Surrender All”. I wonder if we have done what we sing in this
hymn? “All to Jesus, I surrender; All to
Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live.” Have we surrendered everything?
Have
we put Jesus first in our heart and all we do?
When Jesus allowed them to crucify Him for our sins, He earned the right
to have first place in our heart. Jesus
should come before our spouse, before our children, before our friends and
before everything.
Jesus
willingly left His Father, His home and all that He had to come to earth and
die on the cross for our sins. Are we
willing to shut off the television, get out of our comfort zone and serve
Him? In some homes, the television is
turned on in the morning and is not turned off until bedtime.
Television
has caused a lot of problems in our homes.
A husband and wife got so angry about who had control of the remote
control for the television that they didn’t speak to each other for a
week. How it must hurt Jesus and break
His heart when we put things ahead of Him.
Are
you serving Jesus? If not, why aren’t
you serving Him? He is calling all of us
to serve Him. “Also I heard the voice of
the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here
am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8), May God
help us to serve Him with all of our heart.
