ARE WE LIKE HIM
“Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee,
glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”
Exodus
15:11
King
James Version
Rev.
Thomas O. Chisholm wrote the hymn “O to Be Like Thee!” “O to be like Thee! full of compassion, Loving,
forgiving, tender and kind, Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting, Seeking
the wandering sinner to find.” Are we
like Him in our words and in our actions?
Can people see and hear Jesus in us?
It
is very important that we help our children with their homework but it’s a lot
more important to make sure that our children know what the Bible teaches. Gloria Gaither said on one of their
Homecoming Videos that she took the children to their activities and helped
them with their homework but she said “When did I teach them about the things
that matter, the things that will last?”
We
can buy our children big and expensive gifts but if we don’t tell them about
Jesus and the things that matter, not only are we not helping them, we are also
hurting Jesus and breaking His heart. We
can have family devotions, pray before we eat and go to church but if our children
don’t know that we love Jesus not only by our words but also by our actions,
then we are not helping our children.
May
God help us to lead our children to Jesus by our kind and loving words and
actions. The desire of my heart is to
make Jesus happy. It should be the
desire of every Christian’s heart. Jesus
should have first place in our heart, in our life and in everything we do. Does Jesus have first place in your heart and
in your life?
