HE DID IT FOR US
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and
acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely
he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we
are healed.”
Isaiah
53:3-5
King
James Version
Jesus
had been beaten beyond recognition yet while still hanging on the cross with
the blood flowing down His body, He asked God to forgive us. What kind of love is this? It is an unconditional love for you and for
me that came from the heart of Jesus.
Your
family and your friends love you but nobody loves you like Jesus loves you and
nobody ever will. He loved you
yesterday. He loves you today and He
will love you tomorrow and for eternity.
There is nothing we could ever do that would make Him stop loving us.
Rev.
Ray Overholt wrote the beautiful heart touching hymn “Ten Thousand Angels”.
"Father
forgive them!" thus did He pray, E'en while His lifeblood flowed fast
away; Praying for sinners while in such woe--No one but Jesus ever loved so.”
Think
about it. He could have come down from
the cross but He stayed on the cross for us.
All the nails in the world couldn’t have kept Him on the cross had He
chosen to come down. If you ever think
nobody loves you, remember the cross and the anguish and pain that Jesus
suffered for you. Marvin P. Dalton wrote
my favorite hymn “O What a Savior”.
Every
time I hear this hymn, it brings tears to my eyes and I stand up and raise my hands
as high as I can raise them to Jesus. “O
what a Savior, O hallelujah! His heart
was broken on Calvary , His hands were nail
scarred, His side was riven, He gave His life-blood for even me.”
Heavenly
Father, thank You for giving Jesus to die on the cross for us. I love You so much and I appreciate all You
have done for me. Thank You for adopting
me and for the privilege You have given me to serve Your Son. Jesus, I love You and I long for the day I
will see You face to face. In Jesus’
Name, I pray. Amen.
