ONE HAPPY DAY
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we
ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Thessalonians
4:16-18
King
James Version
Bill
Gaither wrote one of my favorite hymns “The King Is Coming”. “The marketplace is empty, no more traffic in
the street All the builder's tools are silent, no more time to harvest wheat Busy
housewives cease their labor, in the courtroom no debate Work on earth has been
suspended as the King comes through the gate.”
I
love the words in the second verse “Happy faces line the hallway, those whose
lives have been redeemed Broken homes He has mended, those from prison He has
freed Little children and the aged hand in hand stand all a-glow Who were
crippled, broken, ruined, clad in garments white as snow.”
How
I long for the day when Jesus comes back for us. Are you ready to meet Him? Is there anything in your heart that hurts
Him? We don’t know when He is coming so
we need to keep our heart in right standing with God. When God looks in your heart, does He see
things that hurt Him and break His heart?
Yes,
one happy day Jesus is coming back for us and we will see Him face to
face. Are you shouting with happiness
yet? I don’t understand how people can
shout for their favorite sports team but don’t shout for Jesus. If ever someone deserves to be cheered, it is
Jesus, the Saviour of the world.
Do
you know Jesus? I didn’t ask if you are
saved. Do you know Him? How much time do you spend with Him? If we don’t have time to spend with Jesus
because of our busy schedules, we need to rearrange our schedule. A man said “I don’t have time to spend with
Jesus because I need to read the newspaper”.
How
that must have hurt Jesus and broke His heart.
Jesus has feelings and it hurts Him when we don’t spend time with
Him. I think sometimes we treat Him like
He is a puppet. We take Him down from
the shelf when we need something and then put Him back on the shelf. May God forgive us.
Does
Jesus have first place in your heart? We
need to give Jesus the respect that He deserves. I love my family. I love my best friend and my Pastor and I
have many other friends I love but Jesus comes first in my life. Making Jesus happy is the goal of my
life. He has done so much for me and one
day I will have the privilege of seeing Him face to face.
