A DAY OF REJOICING
“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you
good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is
Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign
unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a
manger. And suddenly there was with the
angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God
in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Luke
2:10-14 KJV
Charles
Wesley wrote the beautiful inspiring hymn “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing”. Indeed, when Jesus was born it was a day of rejoicing
and happiness. The Baby Jesus grew up
and died on the cross for our sins and one glorious day our precious Saviour is
coming back for us to take us to Heaven with Him.
Rev.
E. A. Hoffman wrote a hymn that should make every Christian search his or her
heart “Is Thy Heart Right with God?” We
can tell people that we don’t have anything in our heart that hurts God but God
can see into our heart and He knows if our heart is right with Him or if we’re
just giving Him lip service.
When
Jesus comes back for us, will we rejoice and shout with happiness or will we be
sad and hang our head in shame because of the way we lived? There is nothing more important in this life
than our relationship with God and Jesus.
We need to make sure there is nothing in our heart that hurts God.
The
greatest Christmas gift we can give our family and our friends is love,
unconditional love. We can give them big
and expensive gifts but if we don’t give them love, unconditional love we
haven’t given them anything of value.
What about you? Are you ready if
Jesus should come back for us today?
