HIS PRECIOUS NAME

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6 KJV

Pastor William Clark Martin wrote one of my favorite hymns “THE NAME OF JESUS”.  Not only is His Name precious, He is precious.  I love these words in this hymn.  “The name of Jesus is so sweet, I love its music to repeat; It makes my joys full and complete, The precious name of Jesus!”

One of the definitions for precious in Webster’s Dictionary is “greatly loved, valued, or important”.  Indeed Jesus our precious Saviour is greatly loved and valued and He is also important.  Do you realize what a privilege it is to be loved by the Saviour of the world?  It is a privilege just to say His precious Name.

One day Jesus is coming back for us to take us to Heaven with Him.  He isn’t taking us for a visit.  We will live with Jesus for all eternity.  Are you shouting with joy yet?  Think about it!  We will be with Jesus, the KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS forever!  We will also be reunited with our loved ones.

If we will listen with our heart, we will hear Jesus tell us every day how much He loves us.  How often do we tell Jesus we love Him?  How much time do we spend with Jesus during the day?  If we are watching television most of the day and only giving Jesus an hour, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart.

After all that our precious Saviour has done for us and continues to do for us every day, He should have first place in our heart, in our time, in our life and in everything we do.
