WHAT ARE WE GOING TO
GIVE HIM
“When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star,
which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where
the young child was. When they saw the
star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with
Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened
their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold and frankincense, and
myrrh.”
Matthew
2:9-11 KJV
Pastor
Homer W. Grimes wrote a beautiful hymn “What shall I give Thee, Master”. This hymn asks us a question that every
person should ask himself or herself.
“What shall I give Thee, Master?
Thou who didst die for me. Shall
I give less of what I possess, Or shall I give all to Thee?”
The
question in this hymn is especially meaningful as we are celebrating the
birthday of Jesus in two days. I don’t
know about you but I don’t have money to give Jesus. I’m like the pastor who emailed me and wrote
“There is more month than there is money”.
However, I can give Him my heart and life.
What
about you? What are you going to give
Him for His birthday? You may not be
able to sing in a choir, play the piano or organ, teach Sunday school or go on
a mission but everyone can tell Jesus they love Him. What are we doing to prove to Jesus how much
we love and appreciate Him?
May
God help us to live in such a way that everyone who sees us or hears us talking
will know we love Jesus. Have you told Jesus
you love Him today? He has feelings too
and He wants to be told He is loved just as we want Him to tell us He loves
us. If He didn’t tell me every day He
loves me, it would break my heart.
