PRAYER
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy
closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in
secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
Matthew
6:5,6 KJV
Rev.
George P. Beard wrote the hymn “The Quiet Hour”. “Communion with my Father, In calm and quiet
hour, Is sweet and rich in blessings, And Spirit’s gracious power; He speaks in
tones so gentle, He hears my humblest prayer, In secret of His presence I feel
my Father’s care.”
We
should pray when we wake up. If we have
time to read the newspaper in the morning, we have time to pray. Mary A. Kidder wrote the hymn “Did You Think
to Pray”. “Ere you left your room this
morning, Did you think to pray? In the name of Christ our Savior, Did you sue
for loving favor, As a shield today?”
Heavenly
Father, thank You for the privilege of praying.
Thank You for loving us and for caring what happens to us. You really care about us and You proved to us
how much You care when You gave Jesus to die for us. I love You, Heavenly Father, and I appreciate
You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
