DID WE REMEMBER JESUS

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
John 19:30 KJV

Yesterday was Memorial Day.  Did we remember Jesus when we remembered the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country?  Jesus not only gave His life for our country, He gave His life for every person in the world.  When Jesus said “It is finished” He made salvation possible for everybody.

No one made Jesus go to the cross.  Jesus willingly walked that long lonely road to Calvary to die on the cross for us because He loves us unconditionally.  He was cursed, abused, spat on, mocked, beaten beyond recognition and He suffered all that abuse because He loves us.  What a Saviour!

Robert Harkness wrote the beautiful and inspiring hymn “Why Should He Love Me So”.  Have you ever asked yourself why Jesus should love you so much He died for you?  It is because not only does Jesus give love, He is love.  If someone asks you who Jesus is, tell him or her that Jesus is unconditional love.

Think about it.  Jesus did not have to leave His Father and His home to come to earth to die for us, He chose to come because He loves us unconditionally and He wanted to fulfill the mission His Father had given Him.  I repeat, did we remember Jesus on Memorial Day?  He deserves to be loved and respected.

Heavenly Father, thank You for our precious Saviour.  Jesus, thank You for loving us so much that You died for our sins.  I love You, dear Saviour with all of my heart and I long for the day when I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

GOD CARES ABOUT US

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 KJV

God cares about us and loves us so much that He is going to wipe away all tears from our eyes.  I believe He is going to wipe the tears from our eyes with tender compassionate kisses of unconditional love.  What a privilege it is to be adopted into our Heavenly Father’s family.  It is the greatest family of all.

Not only is God going to wipe our eyes, we also won’t remember the times when we were yelled at or hit or told we were stupid.  We will have happiness because the former things will be passed away.  The scars of abuse that we carried in our heart will be gone, removed by our Heavenly Father Himself.

God loves His children and it makes Him angry when someone hurts His children.  Not only does it make Him angry, it breaks His heart.  If you are a parent then you know how you feel when someone hurts your children.  It is time that we start loving one another unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a compassionate and loving Father.  Thank You for the many times You have comforted and encouraged me.  I pray for every person who is hurting.  Please comfort and encourage them and reassure them of Your love.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

WE NEED TO FEED THEM

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

I have beautiful flowers that grow every year outside of my office window.  However, this year there are no blooms.  I told someone how disappointed I was that they aren’t growing this year and she said that I needed to get fertilizer and feed them.  Just as plants need fertilizer to grow, we need fertilizer.

Jesus is our Fertilizer and He not only feeds us every day with unconditional love, there are times He tells us every hour that He loves us.  If Jesus didn’t tell me every day that He loved me, I would probably just stay in bed.  We need the love of Jesus and we also need others to love us.

Just as we need love, so our family and friends need love.  We need to feed them with the love of Jesus.  How do we feed them with the love of Jesus?  We feed them the love of Jesus by reassuring them that Jesus loves them and that He cares about them and that He will never leave them.

Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that He gave His Son to die on the cross for our sins so we can live in Heaven for eternity.  God nourishes us with unconditional love through His beloved Son.  Not only did God love us yesterday, He loves us today and He will love us tomorrow and for all eternity.

When is the last time you fertilized your family and friends with the love of Jesus?  If married people don’t fertilize each other with love, the marriage will die.  Let’s start loving one another with unconditional love.  Also, tell Jesus that you love Him.

THE JOY OF OUR HEART

“The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.”
Psalm 118:14 KJV

Not only is Jesus our strength, our song and our salvation, He is also the joy of our heart.  When we are walking through dark valleys and are lonely, sad, discouraged and downhearted, Jesus is with us to encourage us and cheer us on to victory.  Our precious Saviour is our Cheerleader in the storms of life.

Next week hurricane season will be here in Florida where I live but we always have storms of life and usually there is no warning.  Have you ever had a day when everything was great when all of a sudden without any warning, you became discouraged and sad?  That was a vicious attack of satan.

Jesus has warned us in 1 Peter 5:8 to be on the alert for the sneaky devastating attacks of satan.  Nothing makes satan any happier than if he can discourage us so much we stop serving Jesus. WE MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!  We need to keep our eyes on Jesus and cry out to Him for help.

Calling Jesus for help is not like calling the police or an ambulance in an emergency.  Jesus comes immediately to help us.  We aren’t put on hold or get a busy signal, He answers as soon as we call Him.  What a Saviour!  What a Friend, this Jesus of Nazareth!  O how I love Jesus.  I long to see Him face to face.

Praise God!  One day I will see Him face to face.  Are you going to see Him?  Have you invited Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour?  If not, say yes to Jesus today.  He loves you so much He died for you.  He will be the best Friend you have ever known and He will never leave you.

THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF OUR SAVIOUR

“He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.”
Matthew 26:42 KJV

What kind of love is this that Jesus would say to His Father, “Thy will be done”?  It is the amazing unconditional love of our Saviour for you and for me.  He did not have to die on the cross for our sins.  God didn’t make Him die on the cross.  Jesus willingly died for you and for me.  O how He loves us.

He loves us so much He died for us.  How much do we love Him and what are we doing for Him?  Jesus deserves all of our praise, all of our time, all of our talents and all of our heart.  He should have first place in our heart and come before everyone and everything.

We brag about our children and grandchildren.  Are we bragging about Jesus?  Do we tell everyone we see what He has done for us?  Do we include Jesus in our conversations and do we take Him with us where we go?  If we can’t take Jesus with us, we shouldn’t go to those places.

Someone asked if it is okay to watch movies on television.  If we would be comfortable with Jesus sitting beside us watching the movie, it is okay to watch it.  However, if we feel uncomfortable watching the movie with Jesus, we should not watch it.  The movie should make us think about the love of Jesus.

We know Jesus loves us unconditionally because He proved His love for us when He allowed them to beat Him beyond recognition, spit on Him and nail Him to the cross.  How much do we love Him and what are we doing for Him?

ARE YOU BROKENHEARTED

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
Psalm 28:7 KJV

Hopefully we are happy most of the time.  However there are times when we are in the middle of a crisis or have been walking through a dark valley for several days and we feel like giving up and going to bed and staying there.  Are you brokenhearted?   There is good news.  Jesus is our Strength and our Shield.

Jesus really loves us and He cares about us.  He wants us to be happy.  He also wants us to have an abundant life (John 10:10).  When we feel like giving up and going to bed and staying there, it is then that Jesus picks us up in His loving arms and carries us through the dark valleys.  O how He loves us!

Not only does Jesus care about us and love us, He also understands how we feel.  I believe there were many times when He was here on His mission that He felt like going to bed and staying there.  He knows how it feels to be rejected, ridiculed and abused.  He knows how much it hurts.

If you are hurting and brokenhearted, tell Jesus.  He will be faithful to pick you up in His loving arms and carry you until the pain goes away.  Not only will He carry you through the dark valley, He will set you once again on the mountain top of happiness.  We have a loving and compassionate Saviour.

WE ALREADY HAVE THE SOLUTION

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

I heard someone on television say, “We need a solution to all the unrest and violence in the world”.  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that we already have the solution to the unrest and violence in the world.  God will forgive our sin and heal our land if we will do what He tells us to do.

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

Someone shared something with a friend expecting the friend to do something or at least say something that helped.  The friend didn’t say anything or do anything about the situation and it broke the person’s heart that shared it.  God can do anything and He will if we will only ask Him.

Everything is possible with God.  Eugene L. Clark wrote the beautiful hymn “Nothing Is Impossible”.  It is so true that nothing is impossible with God.  He can do anything.  We need to put our trust in our Heavenly Father knowing that He loves us so much He gave His Son to die on the cross for our sins.

If you are going through a dark valley and it feels like you are all alone remember that God not only loves you, He cares about you.  Our Heavenly Father wants the best for us and He wants us to be happy.  It breaks His heart when we hurt.  Cry out to God and allow Him to help you.  We have a loving Heavenly Father.

NO TRANSPORTATION NEEDED

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”
1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV

I had a dream that I got a job at three different locations but couldn’t take any of the jobs because I didn’t have a car.  I’m so glad it was only a dream.  When Jesus comes back for us, I believe He is going to pick us up in His loving arms and take us home to Heaven with Him.  What a happy day that will be.

There will be no transportation needed to go to Heaven because Jesus is going to take us.  As excited as we are to see Jesus, I believe He is more excited to see us.  We are His bride and He loves us so much He died for us.  Not only will we be with Jesus forever, we will also be reunited with our loved ones.

Jesus, we love You and appreciate all You have done for us.  You are a loving and compassionate Saviour.  All hail, King Jesus!  Worthy is the Lamb of God!  You are the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!  One day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face.  How I long for that day.

Do You know this precious Saviour?  He loves you so much He died on the cross for your sins.  If you have never opened the door of your heart and invited Him into your heart, do it today before it is too late.  He will be the dearest Friend you have ever had and He will never leave you, not even for a minute.

IS HE LORD OF ALL

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation 19:16 KJV

Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the beautiful hymn “Jesus Is Lord Of All”.  Every Christian needs to search his or her heart about Jesus.  Is He Lord of all in our life and in our heart?  We can fool others but we can’t fool Jesus.  He sees into our heart and He knows if we are just giving Him lip service.

Do we put activities and people before Jesus?  If so, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart.  After all that Jesus has does for us; He deserves to come first in our heart and in our life before everyone and everything.  One day we will stand before a Holy God and give an account of the way we treated Jesus.

Will we be ashamed of the way we treated Jesus?  Our precious Saviour is not a puppet to be put on a shelf and only taken down when we need or want something.  The first thought we should have when we wake up should be about Jesus.  The first thing I do every morning is tell Jesus that I love Him.

It would break my heart if Jesus didn’t tell me every day that He loves me but He does tell me every day that He loves me.  If you will listen with your heart, you will hear Jesus say to you every day “I love you”.  What a privilege is ours to be loved by the Saviour of the world.  O how I love Jesus!

I think that we sometimes forget that Jesus has feelings.  He really cares about us.  When we cry, He weeps with us and when we laugh, He rejoices with us.  When the night is long and we can’t sleep, He sits beside our bed, holds our hand and tenderly whispers “I love you”.  Thank You, Jesus, for loving us.

AND THE TEARS FALL

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Matthew 25:40 KJV

Someone said to a child “you are so stupid” and yelled at the child and then hit the child.  When Jesus hears something like that He cries.  When we are abused physically or emotionally Jesus sees it and hears it and the tears fall.  It breaks the heart of our precious Saviour when we are abused.

If you are a parent then you know how it breaks your heart if someone says something cruel to your child or hits your child.  Our Heavenly Father feels the same way when we say and do things that hurt one another.  Just as you want to protect your children, so God wants to protect His children.

It is time that we stop hurting one another by saying mean and cruel words to one another.  The Bible instructs us to be encouragers to one another.  We can’t encourage one another if we are yelling at each other.  We need to remember that none of us are perfect.  Only Jesus is perfect!

I receive email telling me how great I am for writing devotions.  While I appreciate the kind words, don’t look to me.  Look to Jesus.  I am not perfect.  I am still in the flesh and there are times when God has to take me out to His woodshed and apply His rod of correction to my heart.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for hurting You because of saying unkind things or doing mean things to one another.  Help us be encouragers to one another and to love one another as Jesus has commanded us to love.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
Colossians 1:13,14 KJV

Pastor Robert Lowry wrote one of my favorite hymns “Nothing but the Blood”.  Yes, nothing but the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins.  We can take a bath and scrub our body with soap every hour of the day for the rest of our life but we will still be dirty with sin.  Only His precious blood can cleanse our sins.

Think about it.  Jesus, the Saviour of the world, knew He was going to be betrayed, beaten beyond recognition, spat on, cursed, mocked and nailed to the cross for our sins yet He left His Father, His home and all that He had to die for us.  What unconditional love flows from His heart for you and for me.

O how God loves us.  He knew His Son was going to be beaten and hung on the cross to die for our sins yet because He loves us so much He gave His Son to die for us.  If we will grasp in our heart how much God and Jesus love us and that They protect us, we will live a happier and more peaceful life.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much You gave Your Son to die for our sins.  Thank You for the privilege of serving Jesus.  I love You so much, dear Jesus.  How I long to see You face to face and praise God, one day I will see You face to face.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

WE ARE GOING TO SEE JESUS

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16,17 KJV

We are going to see Jesus!  We are going to see Jesus!  We are going to see Jesus!  Are you shouting with joy yet?  We are going to have the privilege of seeing the One Who loves us so much that He willingly walked that long lonely road to Calvary and died the most painful death anyone has ever known.

What a privilege it is to be loved by the Saviour of the world and be able to spend all eternity with Him.  It will be a time of rejoicing, peace, happiness and unconditional love and it will never end because we will be with Jesus forever and forever.  Just thinking about it brings tears of happiness to my eyes.

Never again will anyone call us names or hit us.  There will be no yelling there and no running to hide in terror from voices raised in anger.  Our precious Saviour will hug us and hold us forever.  I have said this many times and I will say it until I die.  Nobody loves us like Jesus loves us and nobody ever will.

Are you going to spend eternity with Jesus?  Have you invited Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour?  If not, I urge you, I plead with you to give your heart to Jesus before it is too late.  One day it will be too late to say yes to Jesus.  Open the door of your heart and let Him in today!

THE DEATH SENTENCE

“He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.  For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:10-12 KJV

If we have ever said to people “go to hell”, we have given them the death sentence.  Hell is the eternal place of punishment and there is no chance of a pardon.  I’m so ashamed to admit it but before I was saved when I got angry with someone I did say “go to hell”.  It broke my heart when I realized what I did.

We can be sorry for the things we have said and done to people that have hurt them and God will forgive us and never hold them against us again, but what we said and did can never be taken back.  We might as well take a knife and plunge it deep into someone’s heart if we say cruel and sarcastic words to them.

May God help us to live so that the words we say and the things we do to others will bring happiness to His heart instead of hurting Him and breaking His heart.  We must always remember that what we do to others we do to Jesus.  If we are kind and loving to them, we are kind and loving to Jesus (Matthew 25:43).

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a forgiving Father.  Please forgive us for the times when we say cruel and hateful words to others and do things that hurt them.  I’m sorry for the hateful words I have said when I was angry.  Thank You for loving us and forgiving us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HERE COMES THE KING

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first”  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16,17 KJV

When a bride starts to walk down the aisle to meet the man she is going to marry, the organ starts playing”Here Comes the Bride” and everyone stands.  When Jesus comes back for us with a shout, we aren’t going to stand to our feet; we are going to bow on our knees.  What a day of rejoicing that will be!

O how Jesus loves us.  Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge that we will be with Jesus for all eternity?  There will be no more crying, no wars, no shouting and no beating of children.  We will have peace and happiness forever when our precious Saviour comes back for us.

Jim Hill wrote the beautiful hymn “What A Day That Will Be”. When I sing this hymn about Jesus coming back for us I get tears of joy and happiness in my eyes.  Even now, as I type this devotion, I am overwhelmed with love for my precious Saviour.

What kind of love is this that Jesus would allow them to crucify Him for our sins?  It is an amazing unconditional love for you and for me that comes from His loving heart.  Jesus loves us unconditionally.  He loved us yesterday.  He loves us today and He will love us tomorrow.

Have you got it yet?  Jesus loves you.  Yes, I mean YOU.  O dear friend, Jesus loves you so much He died for you.  No one loves you like He loves you.  Pastor, He loves and appreciates you.

ARE WE COMFORTING PEOPLE

“Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.”
Isaiah 40:1 KJV

God said we are to comfort one another.  Are we doing it?  Are we comforting people as God has told us to do?  We need one another.  The person who says he or she doesn’t need anyone is not being truthful.  Even Jesus needed to be comforted and encouraged.  May God help us to be comforters to one another.

What about our spouses, our children and our parents?  Are we comforting them?  O that every family would put Jesus first in everything they do and say.  May our children see the difference Jesus has made in our heart and life so they will invite Him into their heart.  May Jesus be praised in everything we do.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many countless times You have comforted and encouraged me.  Please help me to be an encourager and a comforter to those who are hurting.  I pray for every pastor who is preaching the good news of our risen Saviour.  Please comfort them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

THE FIRST STEP

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 KJV

I watched as a little child took his first step and his mom and dad were right there to catch him if he fell.  That is the same thing Jesus does for us when we step out in faith.  Ralph Carmichael wrote one of my favorite hymns “The Savior is Waiting”.  Jesus is waiting for us to take our first step to Him.

If we will trust Jesus and allow Him to lead us in the way He wants us to go, we won’t fall and we will also make Him happy.  I used to sing a hymn in Sunday school “My Lord Knows The Way”.  Yes, Jesus knows the way through the path of our life and all we have to do is follow Him.

There was a song with the words “my way”.  Too many times, you and I try to do things our way and then we wonder why we have so many problems in our life.  Not only is Jesus the Guide of our life, He is also the Anchor of our life and the Haven of rest.  It is always safe to trust Jesus.  What He says, He will do.

DEPEND ON JESUS

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Hebrews 13:5 KJV

Have you ever had a friend who you trusted repeat something you said in confidence and it broke your heart?  We can depend on Jesus.  He will never repeat anything we tell Him.  Our loving Saviour is trustworthy and He is also faithful.  Jesus already knows what is in our heart but He wants us to share it with Him.

Jesus has told us that He will never leave us or forsake us but I wonder how often we have left Him and forsaken Him to do something we wanted to do.  After all that Jesus has done for us He deserves to have first place in our heart, in our life and in everything we do.

What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us.  Jesus goes with us through the valleys just as He is with us when we are on the mountain top.  What a privilege is ours to be loved by the Saviour of the world.  We have a compassionate loving Saviour.

NO MORE CRYING

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
Revelation 21:4 KJV

One day God Himself is going to wipe away all tears from our eyes.  I believe that our Heavenly Father is going to wipe the tears from our eyes with tender compassionate kisses.  Think about it!  God loves us so much He is going to dry our tears with kisses of love and compassion.

It is a privilege to be part of the family of God.  I am so thankful that God adopted me into His family on August 14, 1980 when I confessed my sins, repented of them and invited the Christ of Calvary into my heart to be my personal Saviour.  Since the day I invited Jesus into my heart, He has never left me.

Has it entered your heart how much God loves you?  He gave His Son to die on the cross for your sins.  This is how much He loves you.  He is longing to dry your tears with tender loving kisses.  If you are hurting, tell Him and allow Him to comfort you as only He can.

We are to encourage and comfort one another but only God can see into our heart and see the things we don’t share with others.  What a precious tender compassionate and loving Heavenly Father we are privileged to know and have.  He is a wonderful and caring Father.

Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone who is hurting.  Please comfort and encourage them and reassure them of Your unconditional love for them.  I love You, Heavenly Father.  Thank You for comforting me.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

ONE JOYOUS DAY

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV

Carrie E. Breck wrote one of my favorite hymns “Face To Face With Christ, My Savior”.  Thank God that one joyous day we will see Jesus face to face.  O how I long to see the One Who loves me so much He died for me.  I am going to fall on my knees and tell Him over and over how much I love Him.

Have you ever really stopped to think about what joy is going to flood our heart when we see Jesus face to face?  Think about it!  We are going to have the privilege of being with Jesus, the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS for all eternity.  We will never know any more grief or pain.  We will be with Him forever.

IT REALLY HAPPENED

“And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.”
Mark 15:25 KJV

We read about Jesus being crucified and sing about it and talk about it so many times, I think we sometimes forget that it really happened.  Jesus really was spat on, cursed, mocked and beaten beyond recognition for you and for me.  They really did nail Him to that cross of horror and He died for our sins.

What kind of love is this that Jesus would willingly leave His Father, His home and all that He had to come to earth to die for our sins?  It is an amazing and an unconditional love for you and for me.  Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge that you are loved by the Saviour of the world?

I have said this many times.  No one loves you like Jesus loves you and nobody ever will.  Not only did Jesus die on the cross for you and suffer an agonizing death, He never leaves you, not even for a minute.  Jesus is with you when you are happy and He is also with you when you are sad.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving Jesus to die for our sins.  Jesus, we love You so much and appreciate all You have done for us and all You do for us every day.  How I long to see You face to face, precious Saviour.  I am going to give You a big hug.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

REACH UP TO GOD

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;”
2 Corinthians 1:3 KJV

When you are going through a dark valley, reach up to God.  Our Heavenly Father is not only the Father of mercies; He is also the God of all comfort.  Someone said to a friend while waiting in a train station “I can’t see the end of this tunnel.  I don’t think there is an end.”

There are times when the night seems so long and we think it will never end.  It is then that Jesus sets beside our bed and holds our hand as He tells us He loves us and tenderly dries our tears with kisses of compassion.  O how God and Jesus love us.  Nobody loves us like They love us and nobody ever will.

We are instructed in the Bible to comfort others with the comfort that God comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:4).  Are we doing it?  Are we encouragers and comforters to one another?  May God help us to comfort others as we are told to do.  We need to remember that it may be us that needs to be comforted.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the many countless times You have comforted and encouraged me.  I pray for every person who is discouraged, heartbroken and going through a dark valley.  Please comfort and encourage them as You have done for me so many times.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

A CRY FROM THE HEART

“Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.”
Psalm 130: 1 KJV

I have been taking a stroll down memory lane today, and they were bittersweet memories.  Every time I remember this particular event it makes me very happy, but at the same time brings tears of heartache.  I shared it with a friend and she was so supportive.  I thank God for her because she always points me to the heart of Jesus and His love for me.

Sometimes, sharing with someone isn’t enough. It is then that we need to crawl on the lap of Jesus and rest our heads against His loving, compassionate heart.  I put on a Gaither Video and fell asleep watching it.  Any time that I watch Gloria Gaither, I feel closer to Jesus.  She is one of my spiritual heroes.

Jesus is faithful to take away the hurts from our hearts, but we still have memories that are painful.  We have to allow Jesus to apply His soothing lotion of compassion and understanding on our scarred hearts.  I cried from the depths of my heart to Jesus tonight and told Him that I was hurting very badly and would He please comfort me as only He could.  What a compassionate Saviour we have!

If your memories are hurting you, cry from your heart to Jesus.  He will be faithful to ease the pain and kiss away your tears.  There is no friend like Jesus.  He alone can see into our hearts and feel the depths of our pain.  I’m sure that He also has memories that hurt Him, memories of an Old Rugged Cross.

JESUS LOVES HIS MOTHER

“When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!  Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother!  And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”
John 19:26,27 KJV

I believe when Jesus was hanging on the cross bruised and beaten beyond recognition with the blood flowing down His body that He wanted to come down from the cross and run into His mother’s comforting arms but He stayed on the cross because He loves you and He loves me.

Jesus set the example for us to follow when He took care of His mother.  O that you and I would follow the example of our Saviour and take care of our own mother.  My Mother died several years ago and I miss her but it brings peace to my heart to know that she isn’t in pain.  Thank God for our mothers.

Heavenly Father, I pray for every mother and grandmother.  Please comfort and encourage them and may they feel Your love for them as they have never felt it before.  Some mothers have been praying for their children for many years.  Please answer their prayers.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

VIOLENCE, VIOLENCE AND MORE VIOLENCE

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

We are living in a world that is filled with violence, violence and more violence but God wants us to have peace and an abundant life.  Jesus told us that He came that we might have a happy abundant life in John 10:10.  The Bible gives the prescription for a healthy land.  All we have to do is do it.

OUR HEAVENLY FATHER UNDERSTANDS

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

God understands when we are afraid of something.  If you need comforting and encouragement when you are going through a dark valley, allow God to rock you in His tender loving arms.  Heavenly Father, thank You for comforting us when we are anxious and afraid.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

PERFECT PEACE

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Isaiah 26:3 KJV

There are times when we create our own problems because we take our eyes off Jesus,  If we will keep Jesus in first place in our thoughts, in our heart, in our time and in everything we do our Scripture verse tells us we will have perfect peace.  It’s wonderful to think about our loved ones, but Jesus comes first.

A man said “I am so busy that I have to schedule time for Jesus into my daily schedule”.  If we are too busy we spend time with Jesus, we are too busy and we need to rearrange our schedule.  If we can make time to read the newspaper in the morning, we can certainly make time for Jesus.

Someone said “We can make time for the things we want to do.”  If we want to spend time with Jesus, we can do it.  How it must hurt Jesus and break His heart when we read the newspaper in the morning but don’t have time to talk to Him.  Jesus has feelings too.  He wants us to tell Him we love Him.

If ever someone deserves to have first place in our heart and life, it is Jesus.  Sometimes we treat Him like He is a puppet.  We put Him on a shelf and only take Him down when we want something.  One day every one of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account of the way we treated Jesus.

THE HEALING POWER OF LOVE

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

As I was making my bed yesterday, I realized how far God has brought me.  There was a time in my life when I was so emotionally dead that I couldn’t even make my bed.  I would pick up the sheet to make my bed but all I could do was stand there and cry.  God has been so good to me and He loves me.

Every time I think about God loving me so much that He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross for my sins, I am filled with gratitude and love for my Heavenly Father.  Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge that Jesus willingly died on the cross for you?  O how He loves you!

God loves you so much He gave His Son to die on the cross for you.  What an amazing unconditional love flows from the heart of our Heavenly Father for you.  There is nothing you could ever do that would make Him stop loving you.  He loves you unconditionally and He will love you forever.

Jesus is the great Physician and He is on call twenty four hours a day.  All we have to do is tell Him how we are feeling and ask Him to touch us and He will be faithful to heal us.  Not only does He heal us physically, He also heals us emotionally.  What a Saviour!  What a Friend!  O how I love Him!

HIS PRECIOUS HANDS

“The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord.  But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
John 20:25 KJV

Rev. Ray Overholt wrote the beautiful heart touching hymn “Ten Thousand Angels”.  Yes, our Saviour could have called ten thousand angels to set Him free but He chose to stay on the cross because He loves us and He also wanted to fulfill the mission His Father had given Him.

Every time I think about them abusing Jesus and beating Him beyond recognition for my sins, tears come to my eyes.  O how Jesus loves you and me.  Your spouse and family love you but nobody loves you like Jesus and nobody ever will.  His love for you is unconditional and He will love you for all eternity.

The precious hands of Jesus were not only nailed to the cross, His beautiful precious hands also pick us up when we are broken hearted and hurting as He carries us through all the dark lonely valleys in our life.  What a Saviour!  What a Friend, this Jesus of Nazareth!  O how I love Jesus.

GOD’S PEACE

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 KJV

In this world of confusion, strife and fighting there is no peace for our battle scarred heart.  However, we have hope because God’s peace passes all understanding.  Even in the midst of fighting and turmoil whether it be in our country or in our home, God’s peace is available for us if we will receive it.

When we are going through dark valleys of heartache and despair, we need to cry out to Jesus and ask Him to help us.  Jesus understands how we feel because when He was here on earth He had much heartache.  I’m sure there were times when Jesus felt alone and felt like crying.

We have given the impression that men should not cry and if they do cry, they are sissies.  May God forgive us.  We have hurt men and made them afraid to show their emotions.  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that Jesus cried and if Jesus cried it is okay for men to cry (John 11:35).

Heavenly Father, I pray for every man who doesn’t show his emotions because he doesn’t want to be called a sissy.  Please comfort and encourage them and let them know that they are not sissy’s.  If we have said something to hurt men because they cried, please forgive us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

WILL YOU EVER LEARN

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 KJV

When I was a teenager, my Mother used to say to me “I’ve told you and told you not to do that.  Will you ever learn?”  If we will listen with our heart we will hear Jesus saying the same thing to us.  Jesus has told us to be on the alert for the attacks of satan but sometimes we take our eyes off Jesus and satan attacks us.

I have a pinball game on my computer that someone gave me to exercise my fingers so they don’t get stiff because of my arthritis.  It is very important that I keep my eye on the ball because it only takes a minute to miss that ball.  I know this and have written about it but yet I still take my eyes off the ball.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus and not allow satan to put us in bondage to him again.  If we have accepted Jesus as our personal Saviour, He has removed the bondage of satan from us.  Even though we take our eyes off Jesus at times He still loves us because He loves us unconditionally.
