 WHAT HAVE WE GIVEN

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

John 10:11
King James Version

Jesus gave His life for us. What have we given to Him? One of my favorite hymns asks this question "I GAVE MY LIFE FOR THEE".

"I gave My life for thee, My precious blood I shed, That thou might ransomed be, And raised up from the dead.
I gave, I gave My life for thee, What hast thou given for Me? I gave, I gave My life for thee, What hast thou given for Me?

My Father’s house of light, My glory circled throne I left for earthly night, For wanderings sad and lone; I left, I left it all for thee, Hast thou left aught for Me? I left, I left it all for thee, Hast thou left aught for Me?

I suffered much for thee, More than thy tongue can tell, Of bitterest agony, To rescue thee from hell. I’ve borne, I’ve borne it all for thee, What hast thou borne for Me? I’ve borne, I’ve borne it all for thee, What hast thou borne for Me?

And I have brought to thee, Down from My home above, Salvation full and free, My pardon and My love; I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee, What hast thou brought to Me? I bring, I bring rich gifts to thee, What hast thou brought to Me?"

Each one of us has to answer this question, what have I given to Jesus? He gave His life for us. He left His Father, His home and all that He had to die on the cross for your sins and for my sins.

How can we do less than give Him our heart, our time and everything we have? I love You, dear Jesus and I look forward to the joyous happy time when I will see You face to face. I really do love You, precious Saviour, and I appreciate all You have done for me.

 HE GIVES US REST

"And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest."

Exodus 33:14
King James Version

Are you tired and feel like you can't take another step? Jesus knows how it feels to be tired and need to rest. We read about this in the Bible.

"Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink." John 4:6, 7

We read in the Bible "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28  If ever I needed rest, it is now.

One of my pastors in Texas said in a sermon "If satan isn't attacking you, then you need to ask yourself you're serving Jesus. I must be doing something right because satan is working overtime with his attacks on me.

We read in the Bible. "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." 1 John 4:4

No matter how much satan attacks me and how discouraged I get, I am going to stay on the battlefield for Jesus just as He stayed on the cross for me.

Are you willing to say to Jesus "I love You and I will stay on the battlefield for You just as You stayed on the cross for me. I can't do it without You.

Jesus tells us He will help us in John 15:5. "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.".

Even though it hurts a lot when satan attacks me, I am so glad that with the help of Jesus, I can stay on the battlefield for Him. What about you? Are you willing to stay on the battlefield for Jesus as He stayed on the cross for you?

I love You so much, dear Jesus and look forward to the happy joyous day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. Think about it! We are going to see our Saviour face to face. Are you shouting with happiness yet?

 HIS PROTECTION

"Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about."

Psalms 17:8, 9
King James Version

Rev. William O. Cushing wrote one of my favorite hymns "UNDER HIS WINGS". I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

"Under His wings I am safely abiding, Though the night deepens and tempests are wild, Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me, He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

Under His wings, under His wings, Who from His love can sever? Under His wings my soul shall abide, Safely abide forever.

Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment! There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er; Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me, Resting in Jesus, I’m safe evermore."

Thank You, precious Jesus, for the assurance I have that You love me unconditionally and that You will never leave me. Even when I do or say something that huits You, I never have to worry about You not loving me. Thank You.

You have told me to be on the watch for satan because he wants to keep us from serving You so we need You to pick us up in Your loving arms and carry us until the pain goes away.

Heavenly Father, I bring my beloved sister to You. Please touch her, comfort her, encourage her and heal her. Let her know how much You love her and how thankful You are to her for encouraging me to write devotions about the Love of Jesus.  In Jesus' Name, I pray.  Amen.

 I DIDN'T TELL THEM

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

John 3:16, 17
King James Version

When I lived in Texas, I was captain of a bus at church and I went every Monday night on visitation with the church. I told the people I visited everything I had been told to tell them.

However, I did not tell them the most important thing they needed to hear. I did not say to them "Jesus loves you". If we don't tell people how much Jesus loves them, we are not sharing the good news of our risen Saviour.

When is the last time you told someone that Jesus loves him or her? Have you ever told someone "Jesus loves you"? If not, you are hurting Jesus and breaking His heart.

Jesus wants us to be happy. We read in the Bible. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Don't keep hurting Jesus. Tell people that Jesus loves them so much He died for them. Thank You, Jesus, for everything You have done for me. I love You so much and look forward to the joyous happy day when I will see You face to face.

 ARE WE DOING IT

"And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Ephesians 4:32
King James Version

Are we being kind to one another? It is easy to get upset when someone hurts us. However, we need to remember that people were mean to Jesus and He still went to the cross and died for our sins.
May God help us to love one another unconditionally as Jesus loves us.

Heavenly Father, please help us to be kind one to another and forgive one another as Jesus is kind to us and forgives us. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 OUR FATHER'S LOVE FOR US

"For God so loved the world, that he g ave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

John 3:16, 17
King James Version

Frederick M. Lehman wrote one of my favorite hymns "The Love of God". I love the words in this beautiful inspiring hymn.

"The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; it goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.

The wand'ring child is reconciled by God's beloved Son. The aching soul again made whole, and priceless pardon won.

O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure— the saints’ and angels’ song."

Heavenly Father, thank You for all You have done for us. Please forgive us for the times we hurt You and break Your heart. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 HE DIED FOR US

"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"

Colossians 2:12-14
King James Version

Carrie Elizabeth Ellis Breck wrote a beautiful inspiring hymn about our Saviour "NAILED TO THE CROSS".

"There was One who was willing to die in my stead, That a soul so unworthy might live; And the path to the cross He was willing to tread, All the sins of my life to forgive.

They are nailed to the cross, They are nailed to the cross, O how much He was willing to bear With what anguish and loss Jesus went to the cross! But He carried my sins with Him there.

He is tender and loving and patient with me, While He cleanses my heart of the dross; But there’s no condemnation—I know I am free, For my sins are all nailed to the cross."

Thank God for the unconditional love Jesus gave us when He died on the cross for us. We have a loving Saviour Who loves us even when we hurt Him and fail Him.

 A DAY OF HAPPINESS

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
King James Version

Jim Hill sings one of my favorite hymns "What a Day That Will Be". Every time I sing this hymn or hear it, I get so excited knowing that I'm going to see Jesus.

"There is coming a day, When no heart aches shall come, No more clouds in the sky, No more tears to dim the eye, All is peace forever more, On that happy golden shore, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there, No more burdens to bear, No more sickness, no pain, No more parting over there; And forever I will be, With the One who died for me, What a day, glorious day that will be."

Are you going to be there on that day of happiness? Has there ever been a time in your life when you admitted you were a sinner, told God you were sorry and asked Jesus to come into your heart to be your Saviour? If not, I urge you to do it even as you read this devotion.

Don't miss out on spending eternity with the One Who loves you so much He died for you. Don't keep hurting Jesus and breaking His heart.

 THE LOVE OF JESUS

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."

Ephesians 3:17-21
King James Version

Abbie Mills wrote a beautiful hymn "THE LOVE AND POWER OF JESUS". I love the words in this hymn.

"Sing the love and power of Jesus— Have you not new treasure found? Tender mercies of the morning, Scattering glory all around?

Sing the love and power of Jesus, Let the hallelujahs roll; Jesus, Jesus, wonderful Savior, Oh, what music to the soul!"

I love You, Jesus. Thank You for all You have done for me. What a joyous happy day it will be when I see You face to face. You are precious and wonderful. Worthy is the Lamb of God! Please join me in praising the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!

 WE REALLY DON'T KNOW

"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

Luke 23:33, 34
King James Version

We think we know all the heartache and agony that Jesus endured on the cross for us when He was crucified but we don't know. Only God can know the horror, the agony and everything Jesus went though on that day for you and for me when He was crucified for your sins and for my sins.

God is Holy and He can't look at sin so He had to turn away from His Son. When Jesus took His last breath, I believe God's heart was broken and He cried. His beloved Son had been tortured, abused, spit on, cursed, and mocked for you and for me and He had never done anything wrong.

Do you understand yet a little of how much Jesus loves you? What really makes me know that He loves is even when I get upset and say something unkind to someone who has hurt me, Jesus still loves me. It is a privilege to be loved by the Saviour of the world and knowing that one day I will be with Him for eternity fills my heart to overflowing with happiness.

The Oak Ridge Boys sing a hymn that always brings tears to my eyes to know just a little of how much Jesus loves us "I Should Have Been Crucified".

"I was guilty with nothing to say And they were coming to take me away When a voice from Heaven was heard that said "Let him go and take Me instead.
Oh I should have been crucified And I should have suffered and died I should have hung on the cross in disgrace But Jesus, God's Son, took my place

That crowns of thorns, the spear in His side And the pain, it should have been mine Those rusty nails were meant for me Yet Christ took them and let me go free.

Oh I should have been crucified And I should have suffered and died I should have hung on the cross in disgrace But Jesus, God's Son, took my place."

Heavenly Father, I love You. Thank you for the privilege You have given me to serve Your beloved Son. I pray that You will help me to love everyone unconditionally as Your Son has commanded us to love others.

Please help me to keep my big mouth shut when someone says something that hurts me. When others see me and hear me talk, may they see and hear the love Jesus has for them in what I do and what I say. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 WE NEED JESUS

"But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them."

Luke 24:29
King James Version

Rev. Henry Francis Lyte wrote the hymn "ABIDE WITH ME". If ever we needed Jesus, it is now. The world is full of violence, hatred, murders, school shootings and all other things that hurt Jesus and break His heart.   We desperately need our precious Saviour.

"Abide with me! Fast falls the eventide; The darkness thickens. Lord with me abide. When other helpers fail, And comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me!

Swift to its close Ebbs out life’s little day; Earth’s joys grow dim, Its glories pass away; Change and decay In all around I see; O Thou  who changest not, Abide with me!"

Annie S. Hawks wrote one of my favorite hymns "I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR". I don't just need Jesus every hour, I need Him every minute. Without His love and guidance I would go to bed and stay there.

"I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord; No tender voice like Thine can peace afford. I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee."

Jesus, thank You for loving us, for dying for our sins on the cross and for never leaving us, not even for a minute. One happy day, I will see You face to face and will be with You for all eternity. I love You, dear Jesus. Thank You for everything.

 OUR LIGHT

"The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory."

Isaiah 60:19
King James Version

Eliza Edmunds Hewitt wrote the hymn "Sunshine in the Soul". I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

"There is sunshine in my soul today, More glorious and bright Than glows in any earthly sky, For Jesus is my light.

O there’s sunshine, blessed sunshine, When the peaceful happy moments roll: When Jesus shows His smiling face, There is sunshine in the soul."

Jesus is our Light in the midst of a world that is filled with violence and heartache. If ever we need the light of our Saviour, it is today.

Thank You, Jesus, for being with us and for keeping us safe a world that is filled with darkness and violence.  I love You so much and look forward to the happy and joyous day when I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

Carrie E. Breck wrote the beautiful and inspiring hymn "FACE TO FACE WITH CHRIST, MY SAVIOR". I love the words in this beautiful hymn.

Face to face with Christ, my Savior, Face to face—what will it be, When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me?

Face to face I shall behold Him, Far beyond the starry sky; Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him, With the darkened veil between, But a blessèd day is coming, When His glory shall be seen."

Jesus, I look foward to the happy and joyous day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. If you have never invited Jesus into Your heart, I urge you to do it even as you read this devotion. Don't miss out on spending eternity with Jesus.

 KEEP MARCHING FOR JESUS

"Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah."

Psalms 60:4
King James Version

Daniel W. Whittle wrote the hymn "THE BANNER OF THE CROSS". This is one of my favorite hymns.

"There’s a royal banner given for display To the soldiers of the King; As an ensign fair we lift it up today, While as ransomed ones we sing.

Marching on, marching on, For Christ count everything but loss! And to crown Him king, we’ll toil and sing, ’Neath the banner of the cross!

Though the foe may rage and gather as the flood, Let the standard be displayed; And beneath its folds, as soldiers of the Lord, For the truth be not dismayed!

Marching on, marching on, For Christ count everything but loss! And to crown Him king, we’ll toil and sing, ’Neath the banner of the cross!"

We need to remember that satan will do all he can to discourage us from serving Jesus. However, just as Jesus stayed on the cross for us, we must stay on the battlefield for Him.

Jesus gave His life for us. Are we willing to give everything we have to Him? It all belongs to Him anyway. He just gives it to us to use.

I love You, Jesus. Thank You for all You have done for me. One happy day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face when God calls me Home to Heaven.

 OUR SAVIOUR AND FRIEND

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28
King James Version

John Peterson wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus "NO ONE UNDERSTANDS LIKE JESUS". I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

"No one understands like Jesus. He's a friend beyond compare; Meet Him at the throne of mercy; He is waiting for you there.

No one understands like Jesus; Ev'ry woe He sees and feels; Tenderly He whispers comfort, And the broken heart He heals.

No one understands like Jesus When the foes of life assail; You should never be discouraged; Jesus cares and will not fail!

No one understands like Jesus When you falter on the way; Tho' you fail Him, sadly fail Him, He will pardon you today.

No one understands like Jesus When the days are dark and grim; No one is so near, so dear as Jesus-- Cast your ev'ry care on Him!"

Thank You, Jesus, for caring and for never leaving us. Help us to be kind to others like You are to us. When others see us and hear us, may they hear and see the unconditional love of Jesus in everything we say and do.

 LOVE FROM HIS HEART

"I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee."

Isaiah 44:22
King James Version

James M. Gray wrote a beautiful hymn "NOR SILVER NOR GOLD". This is one of my favorite hymns.

"Nor silver nor gold hath obtained my redemption, Nor riches of earth could have saved my poor soul; The blood of the cross is my only foundation, The death of my Savior now maketh me whole.

I am redeemed, but not with silver, I am bought, but not with gold; Bought with a price, the blood of Jesus, Precious price of love untold."

Thank You, Jesus, for loving us so much that You died on the cross for us. You are so precious.

THE CRY OF A BROKEN HEART

"Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?"

Matthew 26:36-40
King James Version

One of my favorite hymns is "THE HEALER" by LOIS ERWIN. It brings tears to my eyes to know how much Jesus loves us and what He did for us.

"ON THE CROSS CRUCIFIED, IN GREAT SORROW HE DIED; THE GIVER OF LIFE WAS HE, YET MY LORD WAS DESPISED AND REJECTED OF MEN, THIS JESUS OF CALVARY

HE WAS WOUNDED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS, HE WAS BRUISED FOR OUR INIQUITIES, SURELY HE BORE OUR SORROWS, AND BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED!!"

Jesus knows how it feels to have a broken heart so He understands when we feel like going to bed and staying there. Just as Jesus stayed on the cross for you and for me, we must stay on the battlefield for Him.

The person who says he or she does not need anyone is not being truthful. If Jesus needed someone, you and I need someone. One of my pastors when I lived in Texas said that pastors need our prayers.

I am privileged to have the best Pastor anyone has ever had. Is my Pastor perfect? No, He is not but he loves Jesus and he loves his church. I have lost track of the number of times my beloved Pastor has cheered me up and encouraged me. How I praise God and thank Him for my Pastor.

Please encourage your pastor and pray for your pastor. Remember, your pastor gets up in the middle of the night to go to the hospital to visit someone. I've said it before but I'll say it again I have the best Pastor in the world. I love you, Pastor Davis, and thank God for Him putting me in your church and under your leadership.

 THE LOVE OF OUR SAVIOUR

"For there is one God, and one med iator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."

1 Timothy 2:5, 6
King James Version

Rev. Isaac Watts wrote the hymn "ALAS! AND DID MY SAVIOR BLEED? At the Cross". What an amazing unconditional love Jesus has for you and for me.

"Alas! and did my Savior bleed And did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I?

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for crimes that I had done He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide And shut his glories in, When Christ, the mighty Maker died, For man the creature’s sin."

Jesus left His Father, His home and all that He had to come to earth and die on the cross for your sins and for my sins. No one ever loved us like Jesus loves us and nobody ever will. What a privilege it is to be loved by the Saviour of the world.

We know Jesus loves us because He proved the unconditional love He has for us when He allowed them to crucify Him on the cross. Do we love Jesus and if we do, what are we doing for Him to prove to Him that we love Him?

 HE STILL LOVES US

"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

Jeremiah 31:3
King James Version

William J. Kirkpatrick wrote the hymn "LORD, I’M COMING HOME". How wonderful it is to know that even when we hurt Jesus and fail Him, He is waiting with open arms for us to come back to Him.

"I’ve wandered far away from God, Now I’m coming home; The paths of sin too long I’ve trod, Lord, I’m coming home.

Coming home, coming home, Nevermore to roam, Open wide Thine arms of love, Lord, I’m coming home.

I’ve wasted many precious years, Now I’m coming home; I now repent with bitter tears, Lord, I’m coming home."

If you have left the protection of our Saviour's arms and are hurting, know that He is waiting for you to come back to Him with a heart filled with unconditional love for you and open arms. Allow Jesus to comfort and love you as only He can.

 WORTHY OF OUR PRAISE

"The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

Revelation 4:10, 11
King James Version

Don Moen wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus "Worthy, You Are Worthy". I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

"Worthy, You are worthy King of kings, Lord of lords You are worthy Worthy, You are worthy King of kings, Lord of lords I worship you

Holy, You are Holy King of kings, Lord of lords You are Holy Holy, You are Holy King of kings, Lord of lords I worship you

Jesus, You are Jesus King of kings, Lord of lords You are Jesus Jesus, You are Jesus King of Kings, Lord of lords I worship you."

 A HAPPY VICTORIOUS DAY

"But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming."

1 Corinthians 15:20-23
King James Version

Ada J. Blenkhorn wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus coming again "WHEN HE COMETH". I love the words in this hymn.

"Happy songs thro’ all the earth shall ring When He cometh, when He cometh; We shall all with joy behold our king When our blessèd Lord shall come again.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Sing aloud the joyful strain; Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Lo! He comes a king to reign.

Pain and sorrow then shall pass away When He cometh, when He cometh; On the world shall dawn a glorious day When our blessèd Lord shall come again."

John W. Peterson wrote what I think is one of the greatest hymns ever written "Jesus is coming again".

"Marvelous message we bring, Glorious carol we sing, Wonderful word of the King, Jesus is coming again!

Coming again, Coming again, May be morning, may be noon, May be evening and may be soon! Coming again, Coming again; O what a wonderful day it will be - Jesus is coming again!"

If there is ever a reason to shout with happiness it is knowing that Jesus is coming again for us. Are you ready to meet Him? If there has never been a time in your life when you invited Jesus into your heart to be your Saviour, do it even as you read this devotion. Don't keep breaking His heart.

"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."

Psalms 18:2
King James Version

Augustus Montague Toplady wrote one of my favorite hymns "ROCK OF AGES". Every time I sing this hymn or hear it, I am filled with awe that Jesus should love us so much.

"Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood, From Thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure; Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands Can fulfill Thy law’s demands; Could my zeal no respite know, Could my tears forever flow, All for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone."

Thank You, Jesus for loving us so much You died on the cross for our sins. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me. What a happy joyous day when I have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

 THE HEART OF GOD

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 3:16
King James Version

The Gaither Vocal Band sings one of my favorite hymns "THE LOVE OF GOD". How thankful I am that God loves me.

"The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell It goes beyond the highest star And reaches to the lowest hell.

The guilty pair, bowed down with care God gave His Son to win His erring child He reconciled And pardoned from his sin.

O love of God, how rich and pure How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure The saints' and angels' song."

We have a tender loving Father Who loves us even when we hurt Him and fail Him. I love You, Heavenly Father, and I appreciate all You have done for me and all that You do for me every day. Thank You for the privilege of serving Jesus.

 GIVE HIM PRAISE

"Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth."

Psalms 57:5
King James Version

William Paton Mackay wrote the hymn "REVIVE US AGAIN" We need to give God praise for all He does for us.

"We praise Thee, O God! For the Son of Thy love, For Jesus who died, And is now gone above.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen. Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again."

Heavenly Father, we love You and appreciate all You have done for us. I pray You will encourage, protect and bless my beloved Pastor Davis. Thank You for caring. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 IMPOSSIBLE

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

1 Corinthians 2:9
King James Version

It is impossible for us to realize how much our Heavenly Father and Jesus love us. God loves us so much He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross for us. Jesus loves us so much He allowed them to spit on Him, curse Him, beat Him, mock Him, abuse Him and crucify Him on the cross for something He hadn't done

I've said this many times and I will keep saying it until God takes me home to Heaven. No one loves us like God and Jesus love us and no one ever will. Their Love for us is unconditional and unending. What a privilege it is to be loved by Them.

The question we need to ask ourselves is how much do I love Them and what am I doing to prove to Them that I love Them. May God have mercy on us if we are not making Them happy.

 A HAVEN OF LOVE

"Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,"

Psalms 17:8

King James Version

Rev. William Orcutt Cushing wrote the beautiful hymn "UNDER HIS WINGS". Thank God for the loving protective wings of our Saviour.

Often when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort, and there I am blessed."

Have you allowed Jesus to put you under the shadow of His wings? He paid the most expensive price ever paid for someone, His very life. Every time I think about Jesus allowing them to crucify Him on the cross for my sins, I am filled with gratifude and awe that He loves me so much.

We talk a lot about how much Jesus loves us but we don't talk very much about how much we love Him. Do we love Him? If so, what are we doing to prove to Him that we love Him. When is the last time you told Jesus that you love Him? Have you ever told Him that you love Him?

One day all of us will stand before God and give an account of the way we treated His beloved Son. Will you be able to look Him in the eye or will you have to hang your head in shame because you hurt Jesus?

 OUR SAVIOUR LOVES US

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

1 Peter 5:7
King James Version

I have been asked why I write about Jesus so much and keep saying how much I love Him. It is because He really does love us and care about us.

We can tell people we love them and care about them but if we don't put kind and loving actions to our words, they are not going to believe us.

When I was going through those long years of depression, I felt all alone, that no one cared if I lived or died. I had been told that I was fat and ugly and stupid and didn't have a right to live. After you hear that so many times, it is easy to believe it.

The happiest day of my life was when Jesus put His arms of compassion and love around me, told me He wouldn't let anyone hurt me again and that it was safe to come out from under the bed where I had crawled because I was afraid of everyone.

When Jesus said "Joanne, I love you. It's safe to come out from under this bed because I won't let anyone hurt you again, I can' t put into words the happiness I felt knowing that Jesus loves me and cares about me.

I tell you on the authority of the Word of God that nobody loves you like Jesus loves you and nobody ever will. Our Saviour's love is unconditional and unending. If anyone ever tells you that nobody loves you, tell them Jesus loves you and His love is all we really need.

Will L. Thompson wrote the beautiful heart touching hymn "JESUS IS ALL THE WORLD TO ME". Jesus is all the world to me. Without Him I would have killed myself many years ago. I love the words in this hymn.

"Jesus is all the world to me, My life, my joy, my all; He is my strength from day to day, Without Him I would fall. When I am sad, to Him I go, No other one can cheer me so; When I am sad, He makes me glad, He’s my friend.

Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend; I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when Life’s fleeting days shall end. Beautiful life with such a friend, Beautiful life that has no end; Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my friend."

Do you know this beautiful Saviour? He loves you so much He died for you and He is waiting with open arms and a heart filled with unconditional love for you to come to Him.

If you have never invited Jesus into your heart to be your Saviour, do it even as you read this devotion. Don't miss out on spending eternity with the One Who loves you so much He died for you.

 EVERY ONE OF US

"He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep."

John 21:16
King James Version

Jesus asks a question that every one of us has to answer "lovest thou me"? We can say anything but Jesus can see in our heart and He knows if we really do love Him or if we are just saying we love Him. What does Jesus see when He looks in your heart?

Helen T. Hachtel wrote the beautiful hymn "MY JESUS!" I love the words in this hymn.

"My Jesus! I love Thee! I love Thee! No lover with Thee can compare; Thou sweet Rose of Sharon so fragrant, Thou One amongst thousands so fair.

I love Thee! I love Thee! Thou dear, dying Savior, Giving Thy life a lost world to regain. I love Thee, I love Thee, Thou living Redeemer, Risen, ascended, and coming to reign!

My Jesus! Thy blood hath redeemed me, From sin and the curse set me free; Now I am Thy purchased possession, I love Thee, for dying for me."

If Jesus would stand before you today and ask you if you really love Him or if you were just saying you loved Him, would you be able to look Him in the eye and tell Him that you love Him?
