 HE IS STILL WAITING

"All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

John 6:37
King James Version

For some of you, Jesus has been knocking at the door of your heart to let Him come in to be your personal Saviour. If you have never let Jesus come into your heart to be your personal Saviour, I urge you to do it now before it is too late. He loves you so much He died for you. Don't miss out on spending eternity with Jesus.

 OUR SAVIOUR CRIED

"When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!"

John 11:33-36
King James Version

What a beautiful and heart touching picture of our Saviour. When we are sad and cry, He cries with us. He loves us so much He willingly walked that long lonely road to Calvary and allowed them to spit on Him, mock Him, curse Him, beat Him and crucify Him.

Why did He do this? It is because He loves you and He also loves you unconditionally. There is nothing you could ever do that would make Him stop loving you. Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge that you are loved by the Saviour of the world?

Thank You, dear Jesus for loving us and for caring. You are a tender loving Saviour and I love You. Thank You for dying for my sins.

 DO WE TRUST HIM

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Proverbs 3:5, 6
King James Version

Heavenly Father, thank You for guiding us and protecting us and for allowing us to be part of Your family. Please help us to trust You more. Thank You for the privilege You have given me to serve Jesus. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 HE PROMISED

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

Hebrews 13:5
King James Version

Do you ever feel all alone? It's nice to have family and friends visit but they have to go home. Our loving Saviour never leaves us. He is with us all the time and He has promised that He will never leave us.

Thank You, dear Jesus, for loving us and for never leaving us. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me. What a happy and joyous day it will be when I have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

 THE LOVE OF OUR SAVIOUR

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Philippians 2: 5-11
King James Version

What a beautiful picture these verses give us of the praise and honor due to our precious Saviour. Just think, every person will bow to Jesus and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.

Are you shouting with happiness yet?  If ever someone deserves to be praised, it is Jesus. He is the "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS" All hail, Kind Jesus! Worthy is the Lamb of God!

Please join me in praising the One Who loves you so much He died for you.

I love You, dear Jesus. Thank You for all You have done for me and for giving me the privilege of telling everyone how wonderful You are. What a day of happiness it will be when I have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

 GIVE HIM PRAISE

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:"

Ephesians 1:3
King James Version

Pastor Charles Seymour Robinson wrote the hymn "GLORY TO GOD". I believe he wrote this hymn from his heart.

"Glory to God! Peace on the earth! Good will to men! sang the angels above; Glory to God! Peace on the earth! Good will to men—sound the chorus of love! Bright dawns the morning, when Heav’n is so near; Sweet be our anthem, for Jesus is here; Come, let us sing—sing of His grace, Grateful thanksgivings shall utter His praise."

We have a loving Heavenly Father Who really cares about us. What a privilege it is to be part of the family of God.

 GIVE HIM PRAISE

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Luke 2:14
King James Version

We can always rejoice and give Him praise in the knowledge that He loves us even if we are in the middle of a crisis or going through devastating heartbreaks.

Instead of always asking Him for things, we need to lift up our voice and heart and praise the "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS".

 HIS TENDER LOVING CARE

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Ephesians 4:2-10
King James Version

As we get together with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day, let us remember the great unconditional and unending love that our Heavenly Father has for you and for me.

We have a loving Heavenly Father Who loves us so much that He gave His only Son to die on the cross for your sins and for my sins and His Son had never done anything wrong.

What kind of love is this? This is an unconditional forgiving love that can only come from the heart of our loving protective Heavenly Father.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for loving us when we were so unlovely. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me.

 THE MOST IMPORTANT

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16
King James Version

When I go to bed at night, I thank God for everything He has done for me but the most important thing I thank Him for is loving me unconditionally.

Not only does our Heavenly Father love me unconditionally, He also loves you. There is nothing we can do that would make Him stop loving us.

What a privilege it is to be part of the family of God. Do you realize how much God loves you? The next time you get discouraged and feel like giving up, remember that God loves you.

 PEACE OR WAR

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."

Matthew 5:9
King James Version

Are we acting in a way that brings peace and happiness to Jesus? If not, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart. Jesus want all of us to be happy. He does not play favorites as we sometimes do.
He has told us that He wants us to be happy. We will never be happy if we are hurting Him. May God have mercy on us if we are hurting His beloved Son. I love You, dear Jesus.

 ARE WE DOING IT

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."

Ephesians 5:1, 2
King James Version

Are we doing it? Are we walking in love as we have been told to do or are we still allowing resentment, bitterness, jealousy and all other things that hurt our Heavenly Father to remain in our heart? If so, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart.

 IN HIS LOVING ARMS

"Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!"

John 11:32-36
King James Version

Today is my Mother's birthday. She died several years ago on Christmas Day. I miss her so much but I also know that she is in the loving arms of Jesus.

Although I miss her so much and shed a few tears on her birthday, I have peace in my heart because I know that Jesus loves her more than I could ever love her. Thank You, Jesus, for taking care of my precious Mother.

 YEARS OF HEARTACHE

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

John 10:10
King James Version

I have the best sister in the world. For over forty years I went through a devastating and crippling depression. I really believed that nobody loved me and that I didn't have a right to live.

Through all those years my sister was there for me even when she didn't think she was helping me. As I look back on those years of heartache, I realize if it had not been for my sister that I would be dead today.

I really do have the best sister in the world. She really does care and even when she is going through heartache herself she reaches out to not only me but also to all who are hurting and need to know they are loved.

Jesus does not want any of us to be discouraged, in pain and feel all alone. He has come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

If you are hurting today, reach out to Jesus, He will pick you up in His loving compassionate arms and will carry you until the pain goes away.

What a Saviour! What a Friend! Please join me in praising the "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS"! Worthy in the Lamb of God!

I love You, precious Saviour and I look forward to the happy and joyous day when I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. It's hard to imagine being any happier than I am right now but I know the happiness I feel now is nothing compared to the joy I will feel when I see You face to face.

 A RECIPE FOR ENCOURAGEMENT

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

Psalm 23
King James Version

I think that most of us can quote this Psalm by heart without looking. The question is, do we really understand and believe what we are saying?

Many times we memorize Bible verses and don’t really pay attention to what we are saying. It is the same with singing in church. We sing the same hymns so often that we know them by heart and instead of worshipping Jesus while we are singing, we let our minds wander.

When I lived in East Texas, the pastor preached a sermon on encouragement and he used this Psalm. He told us that when we started feeling discouraged to say this Psalm and to put our names in it to make it personal.

He said that it had been a source of encouragement for him many times during his thirty eight years as a pastor.

I started doing it the next day.
I said “The Lord is Joanne Lowe’s Shepherd. Joanne Lowe shall not want.” I said the entire chapter putting my name in the right places and I felt such a peace, such an encouragement and such a comfort flood my heart that could have only have come straight from the loving heart of our precious Saviour.

For those of us who teach Sunday school, especially the little children, it is extremely important that we explain the phrase “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”.

Also, for those of us who have children and grandchildren, it is very important that we make sure they know what this verse means.

For many years I thought that I wasn’t supposed to want Jesus because of this verse. Don’t laugh. I have had three people tell me they thought the same thing that I did.

Instead of pursuing Jesus, I ran from Him. After I started studying the Bible and asked the Holy Spirit to teach me, I understood that the verse means that I shall not want anything because Jesus will provide everything that I should ever need.

If today you are hurting and feeling discouraged and are lonely and frightened, try putting your name in while you say this Psalm. Allow Jesus to comfort and encourage you as only He can. He is our loving Saviour and Friend.

Thank You, Jesus, for loving us so much and for putting up with us when we hurt You and fail You so many times. Please plant deep within our heart a desire to be an encouragement and comfort to our families, our loved ones and to a world that is hurting and desperately needs someone to care about them and love them.

 OUR PROTECTOR

"I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."

Psalms 91:2
King James Version

What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that God loves us so much that He will protect us from danger. He even protects us from ourselves and watches over us when we sometimes make decisions that are not in His will for us. They may be good decisions but He knows what is best for us.

There was a television program "Father Knows Best" that I watched when I was young and living at home. That was only a television program. I am so glad to know that God not only loves us, He also knows what is best for us and keeps us from doing things that would hurt us.

Heavenly Father, I love You so much and I appreciate all that You have done for me. Thank You for loving me and for saving me.

I pray for everyone who is discouraged and brokenhearted and who feel all alone. Please comfort and encourage them as You have done for me so many times.

Thank You for the privilege of being a part of Your family. I appreciate all You have done for me and the many times You have held me close to Your loving heart and comforted me. I love You so much. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 OUR ROCK OF HOPE

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy."

Psalms 61:2, 3

King James Version

In a world that is filled with hatred and violence, it is so comforting to know that Jesus, our Rock of hope, can protect us from all danger. O how I love Jesus. He is the Joy of my heart and I love Him with all my heart. One day I will have the privilege of seeing Him face to face.

Rev. William O. Cushing wrote the inspiring and heart touching hymn "HIDING IN THEE". I love the words in this beautiful hymn. "In the calm of the noontide, in sorrow’s lone hour, In times when temptation casts o’er me its power; In the tempests of life, on its wide, heaving sea, Thou blest Rock of Ages, I’m hiding in Thee."

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of being part of Your family and hiding in You.

 GO HOME TO GOD

"And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."

Luke 15:17-20
King James Version

William J. Kirkpatrick wrote the beautiful hymn "Lord, I'm Coming Home".
" I've wandered far away from God, Now I'm coming home; The paths of sin too long I've trod, Lord, I'm coming home."

I'm so glad we can go home to our Heavenly Father when we wander away from Him and disobey Him. If you have left the safety of His loving arms, tell Him you're sorry and He will open His arms of love to you and welcome you back.

 JESUS REALLY WAS ALL ALONE

"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Mark 15:34
King James Version

There are times when we are going through a crisis and our heart is breaking that we feel all alone but we are never alone because Jesus promised us that He would never leave us but when Jesus was hanging on the cross with the blood flowing down His precious body, He was all alone.

Our Heavenly Father is a Holy God and He can't look on sin so He could not look at Jesus when He was hanging on the cross because Jesus had taken our sins on Him.
What a Saviour! What a Friend! There is no one like Jesus. He really does understand how we feel when our heart is breaking.

Think how Jesus must have felt while hanging on that cross with the blood flowing down His precious body knowing that He was all alone.

Do you understand yet how much Jesus loves you? Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge how much He loves you?

Thank You, precious Jesus, for paying the penalty for my sins and dying on the cross. I love You and I am so thankful to know that one happy and glorious day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. What a day of rejoicing and happiness that is going to be!

Jim Hill wrote the beautiful inspiring and heart touching hymn "What a Day That Will Be". I believe he wrote this wonderful hymn from the depths of his heart.

"There is coming a day, When no heart aches shall come, No more clouds in the sky, No more tears to dim the eye, All is peace forever more, On that happy golden shore, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be."

 THE GREATEST VETERAN

"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost."

Mark 15: 34-37
King James Version

When we remember the brave men and women who served their country, let us not forget to remember and honor Jesus, Who is the greatest Veteran of all. Jesus never did anything wrong, yet He willingly died on the cross for you and for me.

Jesus endured pain and agony that you and I wll never know. What a Saviour! What a Friend, this Jesus of Nazareth!. Please join me in praising the "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS".

 WHAT DO THEY SEE

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

1 Timothy 4:12
King James Version

There is a family that lives across from me and they have several children. Some of the older boys come over and take my garbage to the dumpster for me.

One day when they came over, one of the older boys reached out his hand and shook my hand and then his little brother did the same thing. What a wonderful example the older brother set for his younger brother.

It is not enough to tell our children and others what they should do, we need to set the example just as Jesus set the example of unconditional love for us when He willingly walked that long lonely road to Calvary and allowed them to crucify Him.

People may hear us saying kind things but what do they see us do? May God help us to be an example of forgiveness and unconditional love to others just as Jesus was for us when He died on the cross and asked His Father to forgive them.

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times when I hurt You by not loving unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love others. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 HAVE YOU

"I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,"

Luke 15:18
King James Version

William James Kirkpatrick wrote the beautiful hymn "LORD, I’M COMING HOME". I love the words in this heart touching hymn.

"I’ve wandered far away from God, Now I’m coming home; The paths of sin too long I’ve trod, Lord, I’m coming home.

Coming home, coming home, Nevermore to roam, Open wide Thine arms of love, Lord, I’m coming home.

I’ve wasted many precious years,
Now I’m coming home; I now repent with bitter tears, Lord, I’m coming home."

Have you wandered away from God by allowing resentment, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, greed and all other things that hurt Him to remain in your heart?

 GIVE HIM PRAISE

"While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being."

Psalms 146:2
King James Version

Fanny Crosby wrote the hymn "PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM". We sing this hymn but are we praising Him ? "Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer, Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim. Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy name!

Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children, In His arms He carries them all day long: O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of Zion, praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song."

Please lift up your voice and join me in praising our Heavenly Father and our precious Saviour. They really love us.  JESUS CAN

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;"

Psalms 103: 2-4
King James Version

Several years ago, my sister was having severe pain and there was nothing I could do to stop her pain so I prayed because Jesus, the great Physician, can take away our pain.
Rev. William Hunter wrote one of the most beautiful hymns ever written "The Great Physician". I believe he wrote this from the depths of his heart.

"The great Physician now is near, the sympathizing Jesus; He speaks the drooping heart to cheer, oh! hear the voice of Jesus.
Sweetest note in seraph song, sweetest name on mortal tongue; sweetest carol ever sung, Jesus, blessed Jesus."

O how Jesus loves us and it hurts Him when we are hurting. We read in the Bible. "When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!" John 11:33-35

Thank You, Jesus, for loving us unconditionally and for caring when we are discouraged, in pain and feel like giving up. I love You and appreciate You so much.

 FORGIVENESS

"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

John 8:11
King James Version

William James Kirkpatrick wrote the hymn "LORD, I’M COMING HOME". "I’m tired of sin and straying, Lord, Now I’m coming home; I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy Word, Lord, I’m coming home."

Even after Jesus saves us, there are times when we need to ask Him to forgive us because of hurting Him and hurting others. None of us are perfect. Just because I write devotions doesn't mean I'm perfect. I get upset when someone says something that hurts my feelings and I have to ask God to forgive me.

If you have allowed bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, jealousy, resentment and other things that hurt our Heavenly Father to remain in your heart, tell Him you're sorry. He will be faithful to forgive you. He loves you very much.

 STILL WITH US

"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Matthew 28:20
King James Version

Rev. B. F. Clarkson wrote the hymn "GOD IS WITH ME". I'm so glad the words in this inspiring hymn are true.

"In my struggles for the right, In the darkness of the night, When the tempests rudely blow,God is with me, this I know."

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your faithfulness to us. What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that You love us this much and that You will never leave us.
One of my favorite hymns is " GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS" written by Rev. Thomas Obediah Chisholm. God is always faithful to us. Can we honestly say that we are always faithful to Him?

"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!"

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for loving us unconditionally even when we fail You and hurt You. Please help us to love one another unconditionally as our precious Saviour has commanded us to love. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 SAY THANK YOU

"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

Luke 23:33,34
King James Version

I have been a customer of my internet provider for twenty one years and I pay every month extra money for a service they offer. When I have computer problems and give them permission I can call them and they take over my computer and fix what is wrong.

Even though I pay for this service, God spoke to my heart and said to call them and thank them. I called and thanked them and asked the man to post it on their website that I called to say thank you.

I thought the man was going to cry. He said "Thank you for calling and telling us. I will post it and it means a lot to us".

I wonder how often we thank Jesus for leaving His Father, His home and all that He had to come to earth and die on the cross so we can be saved?

I think we hurt our precious Saviour many times because we don't say thank You to Him as often as we should.

Jesus has feelings too and it hurts Him when we don't talk to Him every day. Have you talked to Jesus today and told Him you love Him and appreciate all He has done for you?

It is time we stop hurting Jesus and tell Him how much we love Him and appreciate Him.
Do you love Jesus and appreciate Him? Are you serving Him? To serve Him, we have to get out of our comfort zone and go tell everyone we see that Jesus loves them. May God help us to serve Jesus and thank Him for all He has done for us.

 HIS TENDER LOVING CARE

"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows."

Matthew 10:29-31
King James Version

Civilla D. Martin wrote the beautiful hymn "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". The words in this beautiful hymn tell us how much He loves us.

"Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because Im happy, I sing because Im free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me."

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for all You do for us. What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that You love us unconditionally and will always lo0ve us.

I love You, Heavenly Father. Thank You for giving Your beloved Son to die on the cross for my sins. Thank You for all You have done for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
