 HE DIED FOR US

"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

Luke 23:33, 34
King James Version

Jesus died on the cross for us so we can be saved. What are we doing for Him? Does He know we love Him and appreciate Him by the things we do for Him or are we hurting Him and breaking His heart?

 ARE WE DOING OUR BEST

"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD."

Leviticus 19:18
King James Version

William M. Golden wrote a hymn that should challenge all of us to do our best for Jesus. The name of this hymn is "A BEAUTIFUL LIFE".

"Each day I’ll do a golden deed, By helping those who are in need, My life on earth is but a span, And so I’ll do the best I can, The best I can.

Life’s evening sun is sinking low, A few more days and I must go To meet the deeds that I have done, Where there will be no setting sun.

To be a child of God each day, My light must shine along the way; I’ll sing His praise while ages roll And strive to help some troubled soul, Some troubled soul."

Are we allowing others to see and know how much Jesus loves them by our words and by our actions? If not, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart. It is time we make Jesus happy. If ever someone deserves to be happy, it is Jesus.

We read in the Bible "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40

Are we making Jesuis happy or are we hurting Him and breaking His heart because we don't praise Him and thank Him for all He has done for us? May God have mercy on us if we are hurting His beloved Son.

 HE IS WORTHY

"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;”

Revelation 5:9
King James Version

The Gaither Vocal Band sings a beautiful hymn about our precious Saviour being worthy to receive our praise. Indeed, Jesus is worthy to receive all the praise we can give Him. He is the "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS".

We praise You, dear Jesus and thank You for all that You have done for us. Thank You for leaving Your Father, Your home and all that You had to come to earth and die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins that we could never have paid.

I love You so much and look forward to the happy and joyous day when I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

ONLY JESUS

"Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”

Psalms 73:25
King James Version

Linn wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus "WHOM HAVE I IN HEAV’N BUT THEE?" I love the words in this hymn.

"Whom have I in Heav’n but Thee? Whom on earth beside Thee? Thou alone canst cheer my way: Save, and guard, and guide me. Savior mine, I am Thine,

Thou wilt not deceive me; If I put my trust in Thee, Thou wilt never leave me. Earthly friends may all forsake, Earthly woes betide me; Let me put my hand in Thine, Walking close beside Thee."

What a healing balm it is to know that Jesus loves us unconditionally and He will never leave us. I love You, dear Jesus. Thank You for all You have done for me.

GIVE JESUS THE PRAISE

"Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee."

Psalms 73:25
King James Version

Emma Linn wrote a beautiful inspiring hymn that I just found "WHOM HAVE I IN HEAV’N BUT THEE?" I love the words in this heart touching hymn.

"Whom have I in Heav’n but Thee? Whom on earth beside Thee? Thou alone canst cheer my way: Save, and guard, and guide me.

Savior mine, I am Thine, Thou wilt not deceive me; If I put my trust in Thee, Thou wilt never leave me.

Earthly friends may all forsake, Earthly woes betide me; Let me put my hand in Thine, Walking close beside Thee."

What a privilege and joy it is to not only have Jesus as our Saviour, but also to have Him as our closest and dearest Friend. I love You so much, Jesus.

One happy and joyous day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. Thank You for all that You have done for me.

 JESUS IS STILL CALLING

"O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles."

Psalms 43:3
King James Version

Charles H. Gabriel wrote one of my favorite hymns "SEND THE LIGHT". I wonder if we are doing what we sing in this hymn?

"There’s a call comes ringing over the restless wave, Send the light! Send the light! There are souls to rescue, there are souls to save, Send the light! Send the light!

Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light; Let it shine from shore to shore! Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light; Let it shine forevermore!"

Jesus may not be calling us to go to another country but He is calling all of us to spread His light where we live. If we want to serve Jesus, we will have to shut off the television, get out of our comfort zone and tell everyone that Jesus loves them so much He died for them.

We read in the Bible. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8

Have you answered the call of Jesus to sprad His love? Do your children and grandchildren and family know that Jesus loves them so much He died for them?

If we will listen with our heart, we will hear Jesus still calling us to serve Him. Have you told Jesus you will serve Him? If not, you are hurting Him and breaking His heart.

HOW CAN HE

"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

Jeremiah 31:3
King James Version

There is a wonderful Christian lady who is always giving and doing things for others. However, one of her sons is very hateful and rude to people. We might wonder how her son can be like that when his mother is a very nice and friendly person?

Think about it! We have a loving and compassionate Saviour yet there are times when we get upset and say words and do things that hurt our Saviour. May God have mercy on us. How dare we point the finger of guilt at others when there are times when we hurt others.

How can our Saviour love us so much when we hurt Him? How can He keep forgiving us? It is because He loves us unconditionally. We need to love others unconditionally just as He loves us.

One of my favorite hymns is "I Love You With The Love Of The Lord". Do we love others with the love of the Lord?

"I Love you with the love of the Lord Yes I Love you with the love of the Lord I can see in you the glory of my King and I Love you with the love of the Lord."

Let's make a special effort to love people unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love others. It is not an option for us to love others unconditionally. I love You, Jesus. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins and for all You have done for me.

 IN HIS LOVING ARMS

"And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them."

Mark 10:16
King James Version

Jesus loves children and is very protective of them. He aslo loves us and protects us. One of my favorite hymns is "Safe Am I". I love the words in this hymn.

"Safe am I, Safe am I, In the hollow of His hand. Sheltered o’er, sheltered o’er With His love forevermore.

No ill can harm me, No foe alarm me; For He keeps both day and night. Safe am I, safe am I In the hollow of His hand."

If you start feeling alone and discouraged, remember not only does Jesus love you unconditionally He also holds you close to His loving heart. What a loving Saviour we are privileged to know and have. I love You, dear Jesus. Thank You for everything.

 JOY AND HAPPINESS

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have t old you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

John 14:2, 3
King James Version

Alice Jean Cleator wrote a beautiful hymn "BEYOND THE HILLS". I'm so glad the words in this hymn are true.

"Beyond the hills, beyond the sea, Beyond the sunset’s gold, Bright mansions wait for you and me With glories all untold!

A home of peace and love and light, When scenes of earth are past! O may our feet be led aright, To walk those streets at last!

No trace of sorrow enters there, All tears are wiped away: There is no sickness, pain or care Within that land of day!

With joyful eyes we then shall meet The loved for which we long, With them we’ll walk the golden streets And sing the glad new song!"

The next time you get discouraged which we sometimes do, remember how much our Heavenly Father and our Saviour loves you. No one loves us like They love us and no one ever will.

I love You, Heavenly Father. I love You, Jesus. I love You, Holy Spirit. Thank You for everything.

 STILL LEARNING

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

John 15:5
King James Version

John Stallings wrote one of my favorite hymns "LEARNING TO LEAN". If we would do what we sing in this beautiful hymn, we wouldn't have as many problems.

"The joy I cant explain filled my soul The day I made Jesus my king. His Blessed Holy Spirit is leading my way, He's teaching and I'm learning to lean.

Learning to lean, Learning to lean, I'm learning to lean on Jesus. Finding more power than I've ever dreamed, I'm learning to lean on Jesus."

God help us to stop doing things without first asking Jesus to help us. Not only do we have more problems when we don't ask Jesus to help us, we also hurt Him and break His heart. It is time we miake our Saviour happy by trusting Him.

 A HAPPY AND JOYFUL DAY

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
King James Version

Peter P. Bilhorn wrote a beautiful hymn about our Saviour "HE’S COMING BY AND BY". I love the words in this inspring hymn.

"There’s a precious promise in His holy word: The Lord is coming by and by; ’Tis the sweetest promise mortal ever heard: The Lord is coming by and by.

We shall hear the shout of triumph in the air, The Lord is coming by and by; And the sons of God will in His glory share, The Lord is coming by and by.

And the dead in Christ shall then be called to life, the Lord is coming by and by; We shall all be changed, be free from sin and strife, The Lord is coming by and by."

Are you going to go to Heaven when you die? If you have never asked God to forgive you and invited Jesus into your heart. Do it now before it is too late. He loves you so much He died for you. Don't miss out on spending eternity with Jesus.

 GIVE HIM PRAISE

"If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

1 Peter 4:11
King James Version

Rev. A. Wheaton wrote a beautiful hymn "WELCOME PRAISE". I love this hymn. I just found it two days ago.

"Our praises we offer to Jesus today, For mercies and blessings enriching our way; And we welcome His children who join in accord, To endeavor to serve Him, our glorious Lord.

We will sing the love of Jesus, Join with angel songs above; Chant His praises, tell His blessing, Spread abroad His wondrous love.

We lean on His promises many and sure, Lay hold on His teachings so faithful and pure; And we pray with assurance that Jesus will hear, And deliver believers from bondage and fear.

In spirit He leads us and gives a new song, Uplifts our whole life, makes us happy and strong; By His power He shields us from danger and care, By His love He impels us love’s burdens to bear.

Then join hearts and voices to publish His praise, Exhorting each other to walk in His ways; We’ll exalt in His triumphs and praise His great might, Till we shout hallelujahs in mansions of light."

Fanny Crosby wrote one of my favorite hymns about Jesus "PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM". We need to do what we sing in this hymn.

"Praise Him, praise Him—Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer, Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim. Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory; Strength and honor give to His holy name!

Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children, In His arms He carries them all day long Praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song."

Please lift your heart and your voice and join me in praising the One Who loves us so much He died for us. Worthy is the Lamb of God. All hail, King Jesus! I love You so much, dear Jesus.

 A SPECIAL GIFT

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

Psalms 84:11
King James Version

I received a special gift Sunday afternoon. There are some young boys who live across from me who are brothers. They take my garbage out for me. They are very nice and well mannered.

One of the brothers came over Sundy morning and took my garbage out for me. All the brothers and their mother came over Sunday afternoon to show me their baby sister who is only three weeks old. As I held that precious baby and looked in her face, I knew that Jeus loves me and wanted me to be happy.

What a privilege was mine to hold the baby. I was in pain from my gout but holding that baby filled my heart to overflowing with happiness. Jesus is so good to us. I don't think any of us, including me, realize what a loving Saviour we are privileged to have.

One happy day when Jesus comes back for us, we will have the privilege of seeing our precious Saviour face to face. What a day of happiness and joy that is going to be.

Carrie E. Breck wrote a beautiful hymn about that day "FACE TO FACE WITH CHRIST, MY SAVIOR". Are you going to see Jesus?

 YES WE CAN

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.".

Philippians 4:13
King James Version

Have you ever said "I can't do this?" I have many times. However, the Bible tells us we can do everything when Jesus helps us. I think we hurt Him and break His heart many times because we don't let Him help us.

We read in the Bible. "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15:5

When are we going to allow Jesus to help us? He is waiting with open arms and a heart filled with love for us. May God help us to trust Jesus more than we trust Him and stop hurting our precious Saviour because we don't allow Him to help us.

 THE LAMB OF GOD

"And I beheld, and I heard the voice of m any angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing."

Revelation 5:11, 12
King James Version

Frank Forest wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus "BEAUTIFUL HOME". I love the words in this hymn.

"There is a home eternal, Beautiful and bright, Where sweet joys supernal Never are dimmed by night; White robed angels are singing Ever around the bright throne; When, O when shall I see thee, Beautiful, beautiful home?

Flowers forever are springing In that home so fair; Throngs of children are singing, Praises to Jesus there; How they swell the glad anthems Ever around the bright throne; When, O when shall I see thee, Beautiful, beautiful home?

Soon I shall join that anthem, Far beyond the sky; Jesus became my ransom, Why should I fear to die? Soon my eyes will behold Him Seated upon the bright throne; Then, O then shall I see thee, Beautiful, beautiful home."

Are you going to Heaven when you die? Has there ever been a time in your life when you admitted you were a sinner, asked God to forgive you and invited Jesus into your heart to be your personal Saviour? If not, I urge you to do it now. Don't miss out on spending eternity with Jesus.

 YES WE CAN

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Philippians 4:13
King James Version

Have you ever thought that you couldn't take another step or give another smile? I have many times but the Bible tells us we can do all things with Jesus helping us.

Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the beautiful, inspiring heart touching hymn "Because He Lives". I'm so glad the words in this hymn are true.

"God sent His son, they called Him Jesus; He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives!"

OUR SAVIOUR PROMISED

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I "will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

John 14:3
King James Version

F. M. Atkinson wrote a beautiful hymn "HE IS SURELY COMING" I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

Soon the night of gloom will vanish, And the morning dawn appear; When the Lord of glory cometh, And His coming draweth near; With an upward gaze we’re watching for His coming back again: And with rapture we shall meet Him, Evermore with Him to reign.

Yes, our Lord is surely coming, and with joy we’ll gladly meet Him, And with rapture we shall greet Him, On that crowning day."

Is your heart right with God? Have you invited Jesus into your heart to be your Saviour? If not, please do it even as you read this devotion. Don't keep hurting Him.

Ludie D. Pickett wrote another one of my favorite hymns "NEVER ALONE". I love the in this heart touching hymn.

"I’ve seen the lightning flashing, I’ve heard the thunder roll. I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, Which almost conquered my soul. I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, Bidding me still to fight on. He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone!"

 JESUS DIED FOR US

"And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots."

Matthew 27:33-35
King James Version

Rev. Wendell Phillips Loveless wrote a beautiful hymn about Jesus "ALL BECAUSE OF CALVARY". Thank God for Jesus and the cross He died on to save us.

"All my sins are gone, All because of Calvary; Life is filled with song, All because of Calvary; Christ my Savior lives, Lives from sin to set me free; Some day He’s coming, O wondrous, blessèd day, All, yes, all because of Calvary."

A LOVING EXAMPLE

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

1 Timothy 4:12
King James Version

God used my sister as a loving example to teach me a lesson in love. My cousin told me that when I was little I was afraid of hainvg my hair washed and would start crying when I had my hair washed.

My cousin said that my sister would wash her own hair to show me that it wouldn't hurt. God has used my beloved sister to teach me many things. I thank God and praise Him for making us sisters.

The greatest example of love evrer given to us was when Jesus walked that long lonely road to Calvary and allowed them to crucify Him for our sins. Jesus had never sinned yet He allowed them to beat Him beyond recognition for us so we can be saved and go to Heaven when we die.

This is why I have said many times and will keep saying it. No one loves you like Jesus loves you and no one ever will. His love for you and for me is unconditional and unending.

Matilda C. Day wrote a beautiful hymn about our loving precious Saviour "TEN THOUSAND THANKS TO JESUS". I love the words in this inspiring and heart touching hymn.

"Ten thousand thanks to Jesus, Whose life our ransom paid, Whose blood a full atonement For all the world has made. Let every heart adore Him; Let every creature sing Ten thousand thanks to Jesus, Our Savior and our King.

Ten thousand thanks to Jesus; How gladly would we give Ten thousand lives to Jesus, Had we so long to live. Ten thousand tongues shall praise Him, Ten thousand songs ascend To Him, our blest Redeemer, To Him, our dearest friend!"

We know that Jesus loves us and He has proved to us how much He loves us. How much do we love Him? Jesus gave His life for you. What have you given to Him? Is He first in your heart, in your life and in all that you do? If not, you are hurting Him and breaking His heart.

 THE JOYOUS NEWS

"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."

Matthew 6:10
King James Version

Peter Philip Bilhorn wrote a beautiful hymn about Heaven "THE MASTER IS COMING". I love the words in this inspiring hymn.

The Master is coming! He’s coming again! He’s coming to free us from sorrow and pain! And all who in Him are asleep in the grave Shall wake at His voice, for He’s mighty to save.

The saints who are living, and those who arise, Shall mount up together to Him in the skies; Their bodies shall then incorruptible be, And fashioned like Him, and His glory shall see.

So, seeing we know that our Lord shall appear, To set up His kingdom of righteousness here, We watch for the dawn of that glorious day, And pray as He taught the disciples to pray:

Our Father in Heaven, may Thy kingdom come: Thy will upon earth, as in Heaven be done; For Thine shall the power and glory be then, And Thine the dominion for ever. Amen."

What a day of victory, rejoicing and happiness that is going to be when we are with our Saviour never to part again. There will be no more crying, pain or sadness. Jesus, I long for that day when I will have the privilege of seeing You. I love You so much.

Are you going to be there in Heaven with Jesus? Don't miss out on spending eternity with the One Who loves you so much He died for you.

 I SAID NO

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

Exodus 20:3
King James Version

Jesus has told us that we should not have anything before Him. However, there was a time in my life when I allowed the television to come before everything and everybody.

When people would call me, I did not answer the telephone. I would let the answering service take the message. Guess what? You reap what you sow.

One day I was very sad and discouraged. I needed to talk to someone so I called someone and was told she was watching television.

There are times when I am amazed that God and Jesus love us because of the times that we don't love one another. Jesus has told us many times to love one another as He loves us and yet there are times that we don't love one another unconditionally. How we must hurt Him and break His heart.

What about you? Is your heart in right standing with God? When our Heavenly Father looks in your heart, does it make Him happy or does it make Him sad? May God have mercy on us if we are hurting His beloved Son.

Eliza E. Hewitt wrote the beautiful hymn "STEPPING IN THE LIGHT". I love these words in this inspiring hymn. Are we doing what we sing?

"Trying to walk in the steps of the Savior, Trying to follow our Savior and king; Shaping our lives by His blessèd example, Happy, how happy, the songs that we bring.

How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior, Stepping in the light, stepping in the light, How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior, Led in paths of light."

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus Who not only is the Light of the world, He is also the Light in our heart. Thank You for being a compassionate caring Father. I love You. Thank You for adopting me into Your family. Please comfort all who are hurting. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

 GOD GUIDES US

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."

Psalms 32:8
King James Version

Pastor Joseph H. Gilmore wrote a beautiful hymn about our Saviour. It is one of my favorite hymns "HE LEADETH ME".

"He leadeth me, O blessèd thought! O words with heav’nly comfort fraught! Whate’er I do, where’er I be Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, Sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, By waters still, over troubled sea, Still ’tis His hand that leadeth me.

He leadeth me, He leadeth me, By His own hand He leadeth me; His faithful follower I would be, For by His hand He leadeth me."

Our Heavenly Father leads us. Are we following Him or do we insist on doing what we want to do and going where we want to go? If so, we are hurting Him and breaking His heart.

 THE BLOOD OF OUR SAVIOUR

"The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."

John 1:29
King James Version

Peter P. Bilhorn wrote a beautiful hymn about our Saviour "THE LAMB OF GOD". I love the words in this hymn.

"My soul is redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.  The blood of the Lamb, the blood of the Lamb; He sought me and bought me, how happy I am, Since saved by the blood of the Lamb."

Rev. Robert Lowry wrote another one of my favorite hymns about our Saviour "NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD". Thank God that He loves us so much He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross for our sins.

What can wash away my sin Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; For my cleansing this my plea, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; This is all my righteousness, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow That makes me white as snow; No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

Thank You, dear Jesus, for walking that long lonely road to Calvary and allowing them to crucify You for our sins. I love You so much and I appreciate all You have done for me.

One happy and joyous day I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face. Are you going to see Jesus face to face?
