CAN WE HEAR HIM

“And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”
1 Samuel 3:10 KJV

Emily May Grimes Crawford wrote a hymn that should make every Christian search his or her heart “The Quiet Hour”.  “Speak, Lord, in the stillness While I wait on Thee; Hushed my heart to listen, In expectancy.”  Can we hear Him talking to us or are we playing the television and radio too loud to hear Him?

Heavenly Father, I pray that we will take the time to listen when You are talking to us and be able to hear you.  Father, there are many people who are lonely, discouraged and hurting.  Please comfort and encourage them.  I love You, Heavenly Father.  Thank You for everything.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HIS WINGS OF COMFORT AND REFUGE

“Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.”
Psalms 17:8 KJV

Pastor William Orcutt Cushing wrote a beautiful hymn and it is one of my favorite hymns “Under His Wings”.  “Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.”

What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that we have refuge and rest under His wings of love and compassion.  Only Jesus can see into our heart and only Jesus can put the song back into our heart when it has been silenced because of criticism and sarcastic words.

If you are discouraged and feel like giving up, tell Jesus.  He understands because when He was here on His mission I’m sure there were many times He felt like giving up when He was criticized and cursed.  Yes, Jesus understands how we feel and He will help us if we will only ask Him to help us.

Heavenly Father, I love You so much.  Thank You for adopting me into Your family and for giving me the privilege of serving Jesus.  I pray for all who are discouraged, lonely and brokenhearted.  Please comfort and encourage them as You have done for me so many times.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

JESUS IS CALLING US

“And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.”
John 11:28 KJV

Sarah Doudney wrote the hymn “The Master Hath Come”.  I love these words in this beautiful hymn.  “The Master hath called us; the road may be dreary And dangers and sorrows are strewn on the track; But God’s Holy Spirit shall comfort the weary; We follow the Savior and cannot turn back;”

We read in the Bible.  “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8).  Jesus is calling us to serve Him.  Have you answered His call and told Him you will serve Him?  Jesus left all He had to die for us.  How can we do less than serve Him?

It is not only our responsibility to serve Jesus; it is also a privilege to serve the One Who loves us so much He died for us.  May God help us to shut off the television, get out of our comfort zone and serve Him.  O how I love Jesus.  He is the Joy of my heart and the reason I’m living.

KEEP THE JOY

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalms 16:11 KJV

We have a lot of joy at Christmas and we can have the joy all year long if we will stay in the presence of Jesus.  Our Scripture verse tells us that when we are in the presence of Jesus we have the fulness of joy.  Pastor Barney Elliott Warren wrote one of my favorite hymns “Joy Unspeakable”.  I love this hymn.

I love these words in this hymn “I have found the joy no tongue can tell, How its waves of glory roll; It is like a great o’erflowing well, Springing up within my soul.”  O the joy of knowing that Jesus loves us unconditionally and He will never leave us.  He really cares about us, so much that He died on the cross for us.

If you are going through a dark valley, allow Jesus to pick you up in His loving arms.  He will carry you until the pain goes away and will set you once again on the mountain top of happiness.  What a loving compassionate Saviour we are privileged to know and have.  O how I love Jesus.

THE GREATEST FRIEND OF ALL

“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.”
John 15:15 KJV

Pastor Joseph M. Scriven wrote “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.  I love these words.  “Have we trials and temptations?  Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer! Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share.”  What a precious Friend Jesus is to us.

Jesus is not only our Saviour, He is also our best Friend and He will never leave us, not even for a minute.  Are we His friend?  Are we doing things that make Him happy or are we doing things that hurt Him and break His heart?  If ever someone deserves to be happy, it is Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I pray for all those who are discouraged and lonely.  Please comfort and encourage them.  I pray for every pastor who is preaching the good news of our risen Saviour.  I love You, Heavenly Father.  I love You, Jesus.  I love You, Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HAVE WE

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:33 KJV

Evangelist Judson W. Van DeVenter wrote “I Surrender All”.  We sing this hymn but have we surrendered all to Him?  Every Christian needs to search their heart and be sure they have surrendered all to Him.  We may have surrendered something to Him but have we surrendered everything to Him?

How heartbreaking and sad it would be if Jesus comes back today and we haven’t surrendered everything to Him.  Would we be able to look Him in the eye or would we have to hang our head in shame?  Jesus should come first in our heart, in our life and in our time.  Have you surrendered everything to Him?

A GIFT FOR JESUS

“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
Matthew 2:11 KJV

Someone said “I don’t have anything to give Jesus for His birthday”.  We may not have a lot of money to put in the Christmas offering but we can give of our time and our talents.  There are many people who are going through dark valleys and are brokenhearted.  We can give our time to them.

When we are kind and loving to others, we are being kind and loving to Jesus.  We read in the Bible.  “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40).

Happy birthday, Jesus.  I love You with all my heart.  Thank You for loving me and for never leaving me.  If you don’t know what to give, I urge you to open your heart to others and give of your time and talents.  If you know someone who is lonely, make sure that person is not alone on Christmas Day.

The greatest gift you can give Jesus for His birthday is yourself.  If you have never opened the door of your heart and let Jesus come in to be your personal Saviour, give your heart and life to Him.  It will make Him very happy.

FROM OUR HEART

“Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17,18 KJV

Frederick William Vandersloot wrote this hymn about praying “Keep on Praying”.  “Keep on praying to God on high, Keep on praying, He hears your cry; God will answer the sincere heart, Keep on praying, He will do His part.”  Are we praying from our heart or are we just saying the words?

Can we honestly say we always give thanks for everything?  I have to admit I haven’t always thanked Him when I was going through difficult situations and my heart was breaking.  What about you?  Do you thank God for everything even when nothing is going as you want it to go?

I saw someone read a prayer from a piece of paper.  It was a long prayer and at the end of the prayer, he didn’t even say Amen.  I think there are times when we hurt our Heavenly Father and break His heart because we don’t always pray from our heart, we just say or read words.

When Jesus prayed and asked His Father to forgive us while He was hanging on the cross, He prayed from His heart.  Jesus didn’t just say words.  “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots” (Luke 23:34).  O how Jesus loves us.

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I haven’t thanked You for everything.  Father, You are a tender loving compassionate Father and I know You love us and want us to be happy.  I pray we will be thankful even when our heart is breaking.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

ALWAYS

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:20 KJV

Audrey Meier wrote one of my favorite hymns “I'll Never Be Lonely Again”.  “Lonely days and lonely nights, Filled with despair, Caused me to long for Someone to care; Then I heard Christ say to me; “This promise I’ve made: Lo! I am with you Now and forever, Be not afraid.”

For many years I believed no one loved me or cared if I lived or died.  It wasn’t true but that is how I felt.  Then one happy day, Jesus put His arms of compassion around me and told me that He loves me.  There are no words to tell you how I felt and still do feel knowing that the Saviour of the world loves me.

Think about it.  The precious Baby Jesus grew up and willingly walked that long lonely road to Calvary and there allowed them to crucify Him for our sins.  He had never done anything wrong yet He was beaten beyond recognition, spat on, cursed, rejected and left alone to die.  What a Saviour, this Jesus of Nazareth!

If you are going through a dark valley and feel all alone, know that Jesus understands how you feel and He cares.  When we cry, He cries with us and when we are happy, He rejoices with us.  No one loves you like Jesus loves you and nobody ever will.  What a privilege is ours to be loved by the Saviour of the world.

ARE WE DRESSED

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Ephesians 6:13 KJV

We wouldn’t go outside without having our clothes on but many times we go outside without having on the whole armour of God and without asking Jesus to help us.  When will we learn that we need Jesus every minute of every day?  Without Him, we can’t do anything.

Pastor George Orlia Webster wrote the hymn “I Need Jesus”.  These words are so true.  “I need Jesus, I need Jesus, I need Jesus every day; Need Him in the sunshine hour, Need Him when the stormclouds low'r; Every day along my way, Yes, I need Jesus.”  O how we need Jesus.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much You gave Your beloved Son to die for our sins.  Jesus, thank You for helping us and for never leaving us.  I love You so much and one happy day, I will see You face to face.  Father, please comfort all who are hurting.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HAVE WE DONE IT

“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV

Eliza Edmunds Hewitt wrote the hymn “Give Me Thy Heart”.  “Give Me thy heart,” says the Father above— No gift so precious to Him as our love; Softly He whispers wherever thou art, “Gratefully trust Me and give Me thy heart.”  Have we done it?  Have we given Him our heart and do we trust Him?

Heavenly Father, I pray You will forgive us for the times we don’t trust You.  Father, if there is anyone who hasn’t given You their heart, may today be the day they give their heart to You.  I pray You will encourage all who are discouraged.  Thank You for loving us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HIS LOVING TOUCH

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.”
Luke 23:33 KJV

One of my favorite hymns by the Gaither Vocal Band is “The Old Rugged Cross Made The Difference”.  “Twas a life filled with aimless desperation Without hope walked the shell of a man; Then a hand with a nailprint stretched downward, Just one touch then a new life began.”

For over forty years, I wandered in the darkness of a crippling devastating depression.  I hated everybody and didn’t trust anyone.  On August 14, 1980, Jesus came to me as I lay under a bed in a mental hospital where I had crawled because I was afraid of everyone and had no desire to live.

Jesus put His arms of compassion and love around me and told me that He loves me and that it was safe to come out from under the bed because He wouldn’t let anyone hurt me and would never leave me.  Jesus has kept His Word to me.  He has never left me.  Is it any wonder why I love Him so much?

It doesn’t matter what we did before Jesus touches us because when He died for our sins on the cross, He shed His precious blood for our sins so we can be forgiven.  His loving touch will not only take away our sins, it will also give us a new life, a life that is filled with joy and happiness.

ARE WE GIVING OUR BEST

“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:”
Proverbs 3:9 KJV

Pastor Howard Benjamin Grose wrote one of my favorite hymns “Give of Your Best to the Master”.  “Give of your best to the Master; Give Him first place in your heart. Give Him first place in your service;”.  Are we giving our best to Jesus?  Are we giving Him first place in our heart and in our life?

Heavenly Father, if we aren’t giving Jesus first place in our heart and in our life, please forgive us.  Jesus, I love You.  Thank You for dying for my sins, for never leaving me and for loving me.  Father, many people are lonely and discouraged.  Please comfort and encourage them.  I ask in Jesus’ Name.  Amen.

OUR SAVIOUR

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Philippians 1:21 KJV

Rhea F. Miller wrote one of my favorite hymns “I’d Rather Have Jesus”.  These words are so true.  “I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather be His than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands,  I’d rather be led by His nail pierced hand.”  Jesus is a compassionate Saviour Who loves us.

I dearly love my family.  They are very precious to me and I have a lot of wonderful friends who I love but Jesus is not only my Saviour, He is also my best Friend.  Since I invited Jesus into my heart on August 14, 1980, He has never left me, not even for a minute.  He has carried me through all the dark valleys in my life.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us so much that You gave Jesus to die for our sins.  Father, I pray for every person who is discouraged, please comfort and encourage them.  I love You, Heavenly Father.  I love You, Jesus.  I love You, Holy Spirit.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

WE NEED JESUS

“And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:”
Genesis 18:3 KJV

It doesn’t matter if we are on the mountain top or in the valley of despair, we need Jesus.  Annie Sherwood Hawks wrote the beautiful hymn “I Need Thee Every Hour”.  The words in this inspiring hymn are so true.  “I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.”

Not only do we need Jesus every hour, we need Him every timinute.  This world is full of violence and heartaches and we need our precious Saviour to carry us through the dark valleys.  Jesus is our Saviour, but He is also the dearest Friend we will ever have.  He will never leave us, not even for a minute.

PRECIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

Precious Heavenly Father, we love You and appreciate all You have done for us.  You are a tender compassionate Father.  What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that You love us unconditionally.  Thank You for loving us and for caring about us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

ARE YOU FLYING

“That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.”
Psalms 26:7 KJV

William Edie Marks wrote a beautiful hymn “Keep Telling It”.  I love the words in this hymn.  “If there is abundance of joy in your heart, Made bright by the light from above, If Jesus has bidden your sorrows depart, Keep telling the story of love.”  Are we telling the story of love?

Many years ago when I lived in Texas, my pastor preached a sermon on serving Jesus.  Pastor Byron said “If you want to fly higher than a kite, start serving Jesus”.  When he said that, I didn’t realize he was serious.  However, since I have had the privilege of serving Jesus, I have been flying higher than a kite.

Someone emailed me and wrote “You write about Jesus loving us all the time”.  I don’t know if the person was complaining or not but as long as I have breath and have the privilege of serving Jesus, I will keep telling everyone how much Jesus loves us.  The unconditional love of Jesus is the answer to our heartaches.

May God help us to tell everyone we see how much Jesus loves them.  However, it is not enough to tell them Jesus loves them.  We must prove Jesus loves them by our kind and loving words and actions.  It is also very important that our family sees the difference Jesus has made in our heart and life.

GOOD JOB

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
John 15:5 KJV

I watched a family Christmas Program about a handicapped little boy.  When the little boy won the race he was in, his mother said “Good job, honey”.  I believe when you and I do things that make our Heavenly Father happy, He says to us “Good job” and even when we fail to do things; He says “I still love you”.

I believe there are times when we fail to do things because we don’t ask Jesus to help us.  Jesus has told us that without Him, we can do nothing.  When will we learn to stop trying to do things and ask Jesus to help us?  Jesus loves us and He will help us if we will only ask Him to help us.

What a tender loving and compassionate Heavenly Father we have because He really does care about us.  Father, I pray for all who are discouraged, please comfort and encourage them.  I pray for every pastor who is preaching the good news of Jesus.  Please encourage them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

ALL THE TIME

“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:20 KJV

Evangelist Daniel Webster Whittle wrote one of my favorite hymns “Moment by Moment”.  The words in this inspiring hymn are so true.  “Never a trial that He is not there, Never a burden that He doth not bear, Never a sorrow that He doth not share, Moment by moment, I’m under His care.”

What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that Jesus is with is all the time and bears all of our burdens and shares our sorrows.  Even when we go through dark valleys and crises, we can know that He is with us and will help us and carry us until the pain goes away.

Someone said “I went through a dark valley and I did everything I was supposed to do but I didn’t feel a thing”.  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that when Jesus is with us, it is impossible not to smile once in a while even if our heart is breaking and we are going through dark valleys.

My Mother died on Christmas day several years ago and it was very hard to celebrate Christmas and be happy.  One day I realized what better gift could I give Jesus for His birthday than my beloved Mother.  Thank God for our tender loving and compassionate Saviour Who really cares about us.

GOD DOES CARE

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

Several years ago, one of my neighbor’s grandsons died.  When I saw my neighbor outside, I told him how sorry I was and that I was praying for him.  He replied “Don’t pray for me because God is not a loving God or He wouldn’t have let my grandson die.”  That is not a true statement.  God does care about us.

God proved that He cares about us and loves us when He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins.  God didn’t just look down and decide to give Jesus to die for us; He opened His heart of compassion and love to us.  I believe when we hurt and cry that God cries with us.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a tender compassionate and loving Father Who really cares about us. Thank You for the many times You have comforted and encouraged me.  I pray for all who are hurting.  Please comfort and encourage them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

A COLD HEART

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
Ezekiel 36:26 KJV

Two of the definitions I found for cold in Webster’s Dictionary are “indifferent; unconcerned”.  Before I was saved, I had a cold heart.  I didn’t care about anyone or anything.  I hated everyone because I had been abused physically and emotionally.  Jesus gave me a new heart filled with love and compassion.

One of my favorite hymns is “Since Jesus Passed By”.  I love to hear Lynda Randle sing this beautiful hymn.  When Jesus wraps His arms of compassion and love around us and tenderly whispers to us “I love you”, it makes a difference in our heart and in our life.  We have a reason for living.

Heavenly Father, what a tender loving compassionate Father You are.  Thank You for giving Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.  Jesus, how I love You.  Thank You for dying for me and for giving me a new heart.  Thank You for never leaving me, not even for a minute.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

PARENTS AND CHILDREN

“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.  But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
Mark 10:14-15 KJV

A mother said to her daughter “Your dad wants to see you”.  Her daughter replied “Am I in trouble?”  The mother said “Why do you kids always think you’re in trouble if your dad or I want to talk to you?”  Her son said “Experience”.  How sad that some parents only talk to their children when they punish them.

There are some children who run in terror to hide because they hear their parents yelling at each other and they also see them throwing things at each other and hitting one another.  A little boy went to a neighbor’s house and said “Can I come in?  I’m afraid to go home because my parents are fighting”.

How it must break our Heavenly Father’s heart when He hears the way we talk to each other and He sees us fighting.  A man said “What I do in my home when I close the door is nobody’s business but mine”.  That is not a true statement because God sees everything and hears everything.

We read in the Bible “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” (Psalms 139:7)  It doesn’t matter where we are or what we are doing. God sees us and He hears us.  Are we making God happy by the things we are doing or are we hurting Him and breaking His heart?

GIVE YOURSELF

“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Acts 3:6 KJV

Someone said “I don’t have any money to buy gifts for my loved ones at Christmas”.  If you are like this person and don’t have the money to buy gifts for your loved ones, give yourself to them.  A mother talked and played with her children for several hours on Christmas, but ignored them the rest of the year.

The time and the attention we give to our loved ones at Christmas, we should give to them every day of the year.  A dad and son watched a football game on television for several hours and never said a word to each other.  They missed the opportunity to share their heart with one another by not talking.

Heavenly Father, please help us to be kind and loving to one another every day of the year, not just at Christmas.  Thank You for giving us the greatest Gift ever given, the Christ Child.  I love You, Heavenly Father, and I appreciate all You have done for me.  Thank You for adopting me.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

HAVE WE MADE ROOM

“And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Luke 2:7 KJV

When Jesus was born, there was no room for Him and the sad thing about it is that there are people who still haven’t made room for Him in their heart and in their life.  We have made room and time for television, for sports and for the things we want to do but have we made room for Jesus in our heart and in our life?

Heavenly Father, I pray for every person who has not made room for Jesus in his or her heart.  May today be the day they make room for Him.  I pray for every pastor who is preaching the good news of our risen Saviour.  Please let them know how much You love them and appreciate them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

AND THE TEARS FELL

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
John 19:30 KJV

I believe as the blood ran down our precious Saviour’s body as He hung there on the cross dying for you and for me, that tears ran down His face and also in His heart.  Not only was He in pain from the beatings and the nails, His heart was broken because He had been betrayed, rejected and ridiculed.

Marvin P. Dalton wrote the beautiful heart touching hymn “Oh What A Savior”.  It is my personal opinion that this hymn should be sung at every church service.  “O what a Savior, O hallelujah! His heart was broken on Calvary, His hands were nail scarred, His side was riven, He gave His life-blood for even me.”

I believe as the blood ran down His body from the nails that had been pounded into Him, that tears of hurt also ran down His heart because He had been rejected, ridiculed and betrayed.  Not only was His body broken on Calvary, His heart was also broken.  What a compassionate and loving Saviour we have.

GET BACK UP

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
1 Peter 5:8 KJV

When we fall off a horse, we are told to get back on the horse.  Jesus has warned us to be on the alert for the sneaky vicious attacks of satan.  Just as when we fall off a horse, we should get back on, we should also ask God to forgive us if we do something that hurts Him and keep serving Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we need Your help.  There are times when satan attacks us and we do things and say things that hurt You.  Please forgive us and help us to keep serving Jesus.  I pray for everyone who is discouraged and lonely.  Please comfort and encourage them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

ARE WE PLEASING HIM

“When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
Proverbs 16:7 KJV

Are we pleasing Him by our thoughts, by our words and by our actions?  I believe there are times when we go through dark valleys and we don’t need to go through them.  When we do things and say things that hurt God and break His heart, He isn’t going to make our enemies be at peace with us.

As we think about the gifts we are going to give for Christmas, let’s give God the gift of obedience.  We need to remember that our actions will either please Him or displease Him.  Let’s do things and say words that make Him happy.  Remember, God gave us the greatest Gift of all, the Baby Jesus.

A DATE WITH JESUS

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Psalms 16:11 KJV

Have you ever had a date with Jesus?  If you have, you know there is nothing to equal the joy and happiness.  Why is it we will go on dates and stay out very late or stay up all night watching television but we say that we are too sleepy to stay up with Jesus all night?  How we must hurt Him and break His heart.

May God have mercy on us and forgive us for putting things and people before spending time with Jesus.  Someone said “My schedule is full today and I don’t have time to pray or read my Bible”.  If we’re too busy to spend time with Jesus, we are too busy and we need to rearrange our schedule.

HE STILL LOVES US

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

A dad yelled at his son and said “You are a disgrace to the family.  You have hurt this family for the last time and I wash my hands of you.  I want you to get out and never come back.  I disown you”.  How that must have devastated that young man and broke his heart.

No matter how many times we hurt our Heavenly Father and break His heart our compassionate and tender loving Father will never say that to us or tell us to get out and that He no longer loves us.  I am so thankful that God will always love me no matter how many times I hurt Him and break His heart.

GOD’S LAP

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote the hymn “Plenty of Room in the Family”.  I love these words.  “Plenty of room in the family Room for the young and the old Plenty of happiness, plenty of love Plenty of room in the fold.”  O how God loves you and me.  He loves us so much He gave His beloved Son to die for our sins.

Just as there is plenty of room in God’s family for all of us, there is also plenty of room for every person in the world to sit on God’s lap at the same time.  The heart of our Heavenly Father is full of unconditional and compassionate love for every person.  God’s arms are open wide to protect and comfort us.

Heavenly Father, I love You.  Thank You for adopting me into Your family and for the privilege You have given me to serve Jesus.  I pray for every person who is discouraged, lonely or hurting.  Please comfort and encourage them as You have done for me so many times.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.

WE GIVE YOU THANKS

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for being a compassionate tender loving Father.  Thank You for Jesus and for all You do for us every day.  I pray for every person who is discouraged.  Please comfort and encourage them and let them know how much You love them.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
