HE IS OUR BEST FRIEND

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

John 15:13 KJV

Eliza E. Hewitt wrote a beautiful hymn “The Very Friend I Need”.  I’m so glad the words in this hymn are true.  “When I drink the cup of sorrow, When I tread the path of grief, Jesus is the very Friend I need; In His Word is consolation, In His presence sweet relief, Jesus is the very Friend I need.”

Not only is Jesus the very Friend we need, He is also our best Friend.  He never leaves us, not even for a minute.  “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:20).  Jesus is always with us.

Ludie D. Pickett wrote another hymn about our precious Saviour “Never Alone”.  “When in affliction’s valley I tread the road of care, My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear; Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown; My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!”

Yes, Jesus is our best Friend and He loves us unconditionally.  There is nothing you could ever do to make Him stop loving you.  What a privilege is ours to be loved by the Saviour of the world.  Do you know it is a privilege just to say His precious Name.  O how I love Jesus.  He is the Joy of my heart and the reason I live.
