THE BLOOD OF JESUS

“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Hebrews 9:22
King James Version

Before I invited Jesus into my heart to be my personal Saviour, I was a very hateful person.  I was rude to people, I yelled at them and I was not very nice to my parents.  I used to blame my parents for everything bad that had happened to me until one day I heard Billy Graham say “Don’t you blame your parents for the way you are because there comes a time in everybody’s life when he or she makes the decision to do wrong”.

I am so thankful for the precious atoning blood of Jesus that cleansed me from my sins.  Pastor Robert Lowry wrote one of my favorite hymns “Nothing but the Blood”. The words in this beautiful hymn are so true.  “Nothing can for sin atone, Nothing but the blood of Jesus; Naught of good that I have done, Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”

People try to work their way into Heaven.  They try to buy their way by giving money and by doing good deeds but there is only one way to go to Heaven and that is by inviting Jesus into their heart to be their personal Saviour.

Jesus had never done anything wrong yet He allowed them to crucify Him for your sins and for my sins.  They spat on Him, mocked Him, cursed Him and pounded nails into His hands.  I believe that every time they pounded a nail into His hands, He felt that pain in His heart.

He could have come down from the cross had He chosen to come down.  All the nails in the world couldn’t have held Him to the cross but He stayed on the cross and suffered pain that you and I will never know.  What kind of love is this that Jesus has for you and for me?  It is an unconditional love that comes from His heart.  He loved us yesterday.  He loves us today and He will love us forever.

I have heard many sermons about the physical pain that Jesus endured for us but I have never heard a sermon about the emotional pain He suffered for us.  I had a lot of pain right before I had gall bladder surgery.  I was very, very sick but the pain I had with my gall bladder was nothing compared to the emotional pain that I suffered when I went through that crippling devastating depression.

I am so glad that Jesus won’t have to die again for our sins.  Harold Lane wrote the beautiful hymn “The Next Time He Comes”.  “The Next time He comes He won't have to die for me, The next time He comes there won't be a Calvary, The next time He comes we'll begin eternity, And when He comes again, He'll be coming for me.”

Is Jesus coming for you?  If you have never opened the door of your heart to Jesus, I urge you, I plead with you to let Him come it your heart today,  You may not have another day to live or even another hour.  Don’t miss out on spending eternity with Jesus.
