GOD COULDN'T SAY THAT

"Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst."

John 19:16-18
King James Version

I watched a Christmas program about a family and the dad was in the military. He had been injured and was in the hospital and couldn't come home for Christmas. However, someone contacted his doctor and told him that the man's young son and the man's wife were heartbroken. The doctor discharged the soldier and the soldier was allowed to go home and surprise his wife and son. When his son saw his dad, his son said "Lean on me, dad".

As I was thinking about this inspiring beautiful and heart touching movie, the thought came to me that God couldn't say that to His Son. God couldn't say, "Lean on Me, Son" because Jesus had taken your sins and my sins on Him and God can't look on sin. When Jesus walked that long lonely road to Calvary, He was alone and when He died on the cross and shed His blood for your sins and for my sins, He was alone.

Thank God that Jesus loves us so much, He allows us to lean on Him. Pastor Elisha A. Hoffman wrote one of my favorite hymns "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms". I love the words in this beautiful hymn. "What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms; I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms."

It doesn't matter how many crises and dark valleys we have in our life, our precious loving Saviour will pick us up and carry us through the dark valleys and will set us once again on the mountain top of happiness. What a Saviour! What a Friend, this Jesus of Nazareth! No one loves you like Jesus loves you and nobody ever will.
