 DO WE

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Isaiah 26:3
King James Version

Do we keep our eyes on Jesus? I think there are times when we cause our own unhappiness because we think and talk about everything but Jesus. The newspapers, the radio, the television and all other places where we hear the news reports violence, politics and all other things that taie our eyes off Jesus. It's no wonder we get discouraged.

Helen H. Lemmel wrote an inspiring hymn "TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS". If we would do what we sing in this hymn, we wouldn't have as many problems and heartaches.

"O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s a light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace."

Not only do we have more heartache because we don't keep our eyes on Jesus, we hurt Him. It is time we stop hurting our Saviour and start making Him happy.

 JESUS CARES

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

John 10:10
King James Version

Rev. Frank E. Graeff wrote a heart touching inspiring hymn. It is one of my favorite hymns "DOES JESUS CARE?" I'm so glad to know that Jesus does care and that He loves us unconditionally.

"Does Jesus care when my heart is pained Too deeply for mirth or song, As the burdens press, and the cares distress And the way grows weary and long? Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief; When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares."

John W. Peterson wrote the hymn "No One Understands Like Jesus". It is so true that no one understands like Jesus understands. Jesus understands when we are hurting and He also understands when we are happy.

One of my pastors used to say "If yuo want to fly higher than a kite, start bragging on Jesus". The pastor was so right because there are times when I flying higher than a kite even when I am going through a crisis or dark valley.

I don't know what heartaches and valleys you are going through but I know the One Who cares. Jesus will pick you up and carry you until the pain goes away. O how much Jesus loves you. Allow Him to comfort you as only He can. I love You, Jesus.

 OUR HEALER

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28
King James Version

Doug Oldham sings a beautiful hymn about our precious Saviour "He's The Healer of Broken Hearts". Doctors can perform open heart surgery but only Jesus can heal a broken heart.

Thank You, Jesus, for loving us and dying for us and for never leaving us. I love You and appreciate You.

 HAPPINESS

"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

Psalms 16:11
King James Version

Years ago, I had a pastor who used to say "If you want to fly higher than a kite, start bragging on Jesus". When I walked down the aisle during the invitation time many years ago, I told the pastor that I felt God calling me to the mission field.

The pastor said the most beautiful prayer for me and told me not to wait until God told me what He wanted me to do, but to start telling everyone I see that Jesus loves them.

When God spoke to my heart and gave me the ministry of writing devotions, I told Him that I would write them if He helped me.

I have been asked several times to write for people but I am not a professional writer and have no desire to be one. I'm just a lady who is in love with Jesus.

Are you bragging on Jesus? Are you telling people how much Jesus loves them? We don't know how many heartaches and dark valleys people are going through but we can remind them that Jesus loves them. If you are reading this devotion, Jesus loves you and He always will love you.

 JESUS DIED FOR US

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

1 Peter 1:18, 19
King James Version

Rev. James M. Gray wrote one of my favorite hymns "Nor Silver Nor Gold". I'm so glad Jesus loves us enough to die for us. "I am redeemed, but not with silver; I am bought, but not with gold; Bought with a price--the blood of Jesus, Precious price of love untold."

When my brother went into the service, Mom went outside and stood there watching him go for a long time even when he was out of sight. I believe when Jesus left His Father to come to earth on His mission that God stood there watching Him go for a long time.

I don't think any of us, including me, have any idea of how much our Heavenly Father and our Saviour love us. We may know it but have we allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge?

A preacher was asked why he kept preaching the same sermon. He said, "I'm going to keep preaching it until you get it". I'm going to keep telling you how much Jesus loves you until you get it.

Ethel Taylor wrote another inspiring and heart touching hymn "Calvary Covers It All". I'm so glad the words in this hymn are true.

"Far dearer than all that the world can impart Was the message that came to my heart. How that Jesus alone for my sin did atone, And Calvary covers it all.

Calvary covers it all, My past with its sin and stain; My guilt and despair Jesus took on Him there, And Calvary covers it all."

Thank You, Jesus, for loving us and dying for us. I love You so much and I long for the day when I will have the privilege of seeing You face to face.

 STILL ALIVE

"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

Matthew 28:5, 6
King James Version

Rev. Alfred Henry Ackley wrote one of my favorite hymns "I Serve a Risen Savior". Jesus is still alive and He still loves us even when we fail Him and hurt Him. I love the words in this hymn.

"I serve a risen Savior He’s in the world today. I know that He is living, Whatever men may say. I see His hand of mercy; I hear His voice of cheer; And just the time I need Him He’s always near.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart."

Sometimes we act like Jesus is dead but He is still alive and He still loves us even when we fail Him and hurt Him. Jesus loved us yesterday. He loves us today and He will love us forever.

What a Saviour! O how I love Jesus. He is the Joy of my heart and the reason I'm living and one happy day I will have the privilege of seeing Him face to face. If you are reading this devotion, know that Jesus loves you and will never leave you.

 OUR FAITHFUL FATHER

"God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord."

1 Corinthians 1:9
King James Version

Rev. Thomas O. Chisholm wrote one of my favorite hymns "GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS". I love the words in this beautiful inspiring hymn. "Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be."

Heavenly Father, thank You for all You do for us. Thank You for giving Your beloved son to die on the cross so we can be saved. What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know that You love us unconditionally and will always love us. I love You and appreciate all You have done for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
