 PRAYER

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28
King James Version

One of the most beautiful hymns and is also one of my favorite hymns is "SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER". It was written by William W. Walford.

"Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care, And bids me at my Father’s throne Make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief, My soul ha often found relief And oft escaped the tempter’s snare By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! Thy wings shall my petition bear To Him whose truth and faithfulness Engage the waiting soul to bless. And since He bids me seek His face, Believe His Word and trust His grace, I’ll cast on Him my every care, And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!"

How much time do you spend during the day praying? You might think that you are too busy to pray during the day. If we have time to read the newspaper and watch television, we have time to pray.

I believe we hurt God and break His heart many times because we don't pray or we only pray when we want something. Think how you would feel if the only time your children talked to you is when they wanted something. That would hurt you and break your heart, wouldn't it? It is the same with our Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father, thank You for all You have done for us. Thank You for giving Your beloved Son to die on the cross for our sins. Please help us to be children that make You happy instead of children that hurt You and break Your heart. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
