ARE WE HELPING

“And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.  And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.  And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,   And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”
Luke 10:30-34 KJV

Carrie E. Breck wrote a beautiful and heart touching hymn “Help Somebody Today”.  Are we doing what we are singing?  Are we helping somebody?  The words in this hymn are so true.  “Many are waiting a kind, loving word, Help somebody today! Thou hast a message, O let it be heard, Help somebody today!”

Are we telling everyone we see that Jesus loves them?  If we would allow it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge how much Jesus loves us, we would be a lot happier. Kurt Kaiser wrote one of my favorite hymns “Oh How He Loves You and Me”.  Jesus proved His love for us when He died for us.

“Jesus to Calv'ry did go, His love for mankind to show.  What He did there brought hope from despair.  Oh, how He loves you, Oh, how He loves me, Oh how He loves you and me.”  We know that Jesus loves us.  Does He know we love Him by our service to Him and by our words and actions?
