DO THEY KNOW

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

John 13:34. 35
King James Version

It is very important that we love one another so people will know we are Jesus’ disciples.  We need to start with our family.  Does our family know we love Jesus by our actions and our words?  A teenage boy said to his parents “You go to church, teach Sunday school and sing in the choir but when you come home, you criticize the preacher and his sermon.  If that is what being a Christian is, I don’t want any part of it”.

As parents, we have not only the responsibility but also the privilege of not only telling our children that Jesus loves them but proving it to them by our kind and loving actions.  A young man said in a testimony service “I’m a Christian today because of my mother.  I saw her kneeling beside her bed and heard her praying for me to be saved every day.  I thank God for my mother.”

May God help us to love one another unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love each other.  Can you honestly say you always love unconditionally?  There are times when I hurt Jesus because I don’t love like He has commanded me to love and I have to ask God to forgive me.  If Jesus can love us unconditionally, we should be willing to love others as He loves us.  We can’t do it by ourselves.  We need to ask Him to help us.

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I don’t love unconditionally.  I’m sorry.  Please help me to always love as Jesus has commanded us to love.  I pray for every family that they will love one another unconditionally.  Please comfort and encourage all who are hurting.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
