OUR LIGHT IN THE DARK

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

John 8:12
King James Version

My sister gave me a beautiful Thomas Kincaid afghan several years ago.  I have never used it as an afghan because it is so beautiful.  I put it on the wall because it says “The Lord is my Light” and truly Jesus is our light in a world of darkness.  A couple of months ago, I put one of my lamps to shine on the words.

Philip Paul Bliss wrote one of my favorite hymns “The Light of the World is Jesus”.  The words in this beautiful hymn are so true.  “No darkness have we who in Jesus abide; The Light of the world is Jesus!  We walk in the light when we follow our Guide!  The Light of the world is Jesus!”

It doesn’t matter how dark it is outside or if our heart gets dark because of criticism, sarcasm and ridicule, Jesus shines His light a little brighter in our heart.  Thank God for Jesus, the Light of the world and the Light of our heart.

I have the best sister in the world.  She has decorated my home and has been not only a faithful sister, but also a faithful friend.  She has decorated my home but Jesus decorated my heart.  He took the bitterness and hatred from my heart and gave me a new heart.

Have you allowed Jesus to take the bitterness and hatred from your heart and give you a new heart?
