HAPPINESS AND JOY

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Rev. Alfred H. Ackley wrote one of my favorite hymns “In the Service of the King”.  The words in this beautiful hymn are so true.  “I am happy in the service of the King.  I am happy, O so happy! I have peace and joy that nothing else can bring, In the service of the King.”

I have a wonderful sister who I love very much and I have a Pastor who I thank God for and I have many wonderful friends that I love and when I am with my family and with my friends I am happy.  However, it is only when I am serving Jesus and telling others how much He loves them that I have real joy and happiness.

We read in the Bible.  “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalms 16:11).  I had a pastor several years ago who preached a sermon about serving Jesus that I will never forget.  Pastor Byron said “If you want to fly higher than a kite, start serving Jesus”.

Pastor Byron was so right because even when I am going through a dark valley when I start writing a devotion telling others about our precious Saviour, I really do feel like I am flying higher than a kite.  What a privilege and joy it has been to serve Jesus full time since January 24, 2005.  

If you want to fly higher than a kite, start serving Jesus and telling everyone how much Jesus loves them.  Not only will you be happy, you will make Jesus happy.  Making Jesus happy should be the desire of every Christian.  Are you making Jesus happy?
