A HEART OF LOVE

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

Luke 23:34
King James Version

I wonder how many of us would say “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” if we had been beaten beyond recognition, spat on, cursed, rejected and mocked and crucified on the cross?  If we are honest with ourselves, all of us would have to admit that we wouldn’t ask God to forgive them.

Instead of heaving a heart of love we allow bitterness, resentment, sarcasm and unforgiveness to remain in our heart.  All of these things hurt Jesus and break His heart. Jesus wasn’t crucified for just you and for me. He was crucified for every person in the world. He loves everybody and He has commanded us to love one another.  Loving one another is not an option, it is a commandment from Jesus.

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34).  How sad it will be and how if would break our Saviour’s heart if we can’t look Jesus in the eye when He comes back for us because we have refused to forgive the ones who have hurt us.

It is time that you and I start loving one another unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love each other.  May God have mercy on us and forgive us for hurting our loving and precious Saviour.
