ARE THEY

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Psalms 19:14
King James Version

I wonder if we are hurting Jesus and breaking His heart because of what we say and what we have allowed to remain in our heart?  We can fool others but we can’t fool Jesus because He sees into our heart and Jesus knows what is in our heart and if we have allowed things that hurt Him and break His heart to remain in our heart.

Pastor J. Edwin Orr wrote the hymn “Search Me, O God”.  “ Search me, O God, And know my heart today; Try me, O Savior, Know my thoughts, I pray. See if there be Some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin And set me free.” Do we really mean what we are singing?  What about you?  Do you really want God to search your heart or are there things that you know will hurt Him in your heart?

I receive emails from people telling me how wonderful I am because I write devotions.  I appreciate those emails because all of us need encouragement.  However, don’t look to me or to your pastor or to your Sunday school teacher because we are human and sometimes hurt God.  Keep your eyes on Jesus and on Him alone because He will never hurt you or leave you.

A. A. Luther wrote the hymn “Jesus Never Fails”.  “Earthly friends may prove untrue,  doubts and fears assail; One still loves and cares for you,  one who will not fail. Jesus never fails,  Jesus never fails; Heav'n and earth may pass away, but Jesus never fails.”

No matter how many times we hurt Jesus and break His heart, He still loves us.  He loved us yesterday.  He loves us today.  He will love us tomorrow and for all eternity.  Jesus is the best Friend we will ever have and He will never leave us, not even for one minute.  All hail, King Jesus!  Worthy is the Lamb of God!  He is the “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”.  Please lift your voices and hands and join me in praising the One Who loves you so much He died for you.

Heavenly Father, please search my heart and if there is anything that hurts You in my heart let me know so I can repent and get my heart right with You.  Please forgive me for the times when I hurt You and break Your heart.  I’m sorry because I never want to hurt You yet I know that there are times when I do hurt You.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
