WE DON’T KNOW

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.  So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.”

Isaiah 41:6, 7
King James Version

I got my hair cut on Friday and I really like it so I called the lady who cut my hair on Saturday and said “Hi, I want to thank you for the hair cut.  I really like it”.  She said “Thank you”.  It sounded like she was crying.  We don’t know the heartaches and dark valleys that people are going through.  Only Jesus knows what is going on in someone’s heart but we can encourage them.

There are times when I get impatient and in a hurry when I am ready to check out at Walmart and there are a lot of people ahead of me in line.  As I was thinking about writing this devotion, God spoke to my heart and reminded me that we need to be patient with others and be an encouragement to them.

We don’t know what’s going on with the people who are ahead of us in the checkout lane.  They may have sick children at home or have recently lost a loved one or are worried about their job and wonder if they can support their family.  May God help us to realize that the people ahead of us in line have dark valleys in their life just as we do.

Heavenly Father, I pray for all who are going through dark valleys, for those who have lost a loved one, and for the ones who are wondering how they are going to feed their children.  May we always remember that You are a compassionate and loving Father and that we can trust You to feed us and take care of us.  I love You, dear Father.  Thank You for the privilege You have given me to serve Your beloved Son.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
