ARE WE A BLESSING
"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:"
Genesis 12:2
King James Version
Ira B. Wilson wrote one of my favorite hymns "Make Me a Blessing". "Make me a blessing, make me a blessing, Out of my life may Jesus shine; Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray, Make me a blessing to someone today. The words in this beautiful hymn should make every Christian ask "Am I a blessing to others?"
We can't be a blessing to others if we allow unforgiveness and bitterness to remain in our heart. How dare you and I refuse to forgive those who hurt us when Jesus forgave us for crucifying Him? Jesus had never done anything wrong, yet He willingly died for our sins so we can be saved.
May God help us to keep our heart in right standing with God. As one of my pastors said in a sermon "If you will make sure your own heart is right with God, you won't have the time to criticize and judge others". That pastor was so right because it is a full time job making sure there is nothing in my heart that hurts God.
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I have hurt You. Help us to lead others to Jesus by the love we show them. I pray for those who are discouraged and lonely. Please comfort them as You have comforted me so many times. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
