DEPEND ON JESUS

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2 KJV

Someone said “I can’t believe that person said that and did that”.  We need to remember there was only one perfect person and His Name is Jesus.  We can depend on Jesus because He never fails us.  What He says, He will do and He always keeps His promises.  Don’t depend on people, depend on Jesus.

Pastor A. A. Luther wrote “Jesus Never Fails”.  “Earthly friends may prove untrue, doubts and fears assail; One still loves and cares for you,  one who will not fail. Jesus never fails, Jesus never fails;  Heav'n and earth may pass away,  but Jesus never fails.”  Are you depending on Jesus?

Helen H. Lemmel wrote one of my favorite hymns “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus”.  If we will do what we sing, we won’t have as many problems.  “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.”

Not only will we be disappointed if we depend on people, it’s not fair to Jesus.  He has proved that He will never hurt us and that we can depend on Him.  Also, it’s not fair to put people on a pedestal and expect them to be perfect.  I used to do that and I got hurt every time.  We must depend on Jesus.

May God help us to keep our eyes on Jesus and trust Him to take care of us.  What a healing balm it is to our weary battle scarred heart to know He will never disappoint us and will never leave us or fail us.  What a tender compassionate loving Saviour.
