OUR HOPE

“And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”
Matthew 7:25 KJV

Pastor Edward Mote wrote a beautiful hymn “My Hope Is Built”.  It is one of my favorite hymns.  Pastor Mote was so well loved that his congregation offered him title to the church building, but he said: “I do not want the chapel, I only want the pulpit; and when I cease to preach Christ, then turn me out of that.”

Pastor Mote really loved Jesus and he let everyone know how much he loved Jesus and how faithful Jesus is to us.  I love these words in this inspiring hymn.  “My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly trust in Jesus’ name.”

I have a wonderful family, a pastor who loves Jesus, and many friends that I love but Jesus is our only Hope in this world of hatred and violence.  We should trust others but we need to remember that they are human and we shouldn’t expect them to be perfect.  We can trust Jesus because He is perfect.

Pastor Arthur Luther wrote “Jesus Never Fails”  “Earthly friends may prove untrue, doubts and fears assail; One still loves and cares for you, one who will not fail.”  Yes, Jesus loves and cares for us and He will never fail us.  What a Saviour!  What a Friend, this Jesus of Nazareth!  O how I love Jesus.

Heavenly Father, You are a tender loving compassionate Father and I love You and appreciate all You have done for me.  Thank You for loving us so much You gave Your beloved Son to pay the penalty for our sins.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
