OUR SHELTER OF LOVE

“HEAR my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.  From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.  I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings.  Selah.”
Psalm 61:1-4 KJV

Dottie Rambo wrote one of the most beautiful hymns I have ever heard “Sheltered In The Arms of God”.  “I feel the touch of hands so kind and tender.  They’re leading me in the paths I must trod.  I’ll have no fear for Jesus walks beside me For I’m sheltered in the arms of God.”  Thank God for His shelter.

In this world of hate and violence, it is an encouragement to our weary and battle scarred heart to know that in the shelter of God’s arms we not only have rest from life’s dangers, we also have unconditional love.  Yes, God is our shelter of love and our precious Saviour takes our hand and walks beside us.

We may live in a big expensive house and we may have a lot of material possessions but if we haven’t allowed God to shelter us in His arms of unconditional love, we aren’t protected from the violence and dangers of this world.  Allow God to shelter you in His loving arms.  Remember, Jesus walks beside us.

Loving Heavenly Father, we come into Your presence today with grateful hearts for Your unconditional love for us and for Your protection from the violence and dangers of life.  How reassuring it is to know that You will never yell at us or hit us and that You will always love us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
