WHERE IS THE LOVE

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
John 13:34,35 KJV

I read in the news yesterday that a teenager killed another teenager and there were other murders in the news.  Where is the love?  I think we sometimes forget that loving one another is not an option.  Jesus has commanded us to love one another.  Can we honestly say we love one another unconditionally?

A teenage girl was very upset and crying because her boyfriend had said to her “If you love me, you will have sex with me”.  I submit to you on the authority of the Word of God that what that boy said to that girl is a lie straight from the pits of hell.  Just having sex with someone is not love, it is a physical act.

The teenage girl asked her dad if she was old fashioned because she wouldn’t have sex with her boyfriend.  Her dad replied “you are not old fashioned.  Having sex does not mean you love him.  Real love is eating ground round instead of steak and getting up in the morning and facing the day together”.

Thank God for that dad who cared enough to take the time to talk to his daughter and explain to her about real love.  We as parents need to tell our children about real love, unconditional love.  One day every one of us parents will stand before a Holy God and give an account of how we raised our children.

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for not always loving one another unconditionally as Jesus has commanded us to love.  Jesus, thank You for loving us.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
