ARE WE SATISFIED

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
John 14:1-3 KJV

Pastor Ira Stanphill wrote a hymn that should make every Christian search his or her heart to see if the answer is yes.  “I've Got A Mansion”.  “I'm satisfied with just a cottage below A little silver and a little gold But in that city where the ransomed will shine I want a gold one that's silver lined”.  Are we satisfied?

A teenage boy sat in my living room and told me that his dad worked long hours and when his dad came home from work instead of spending time with the boy; he watched television until he went to bed.  It is very important that we work to make enough money to support our family.

However, when we work long hours just so we can buy big cars, big houses and other things that while they are nice to have they are not necessary and it takes time away from our family, we are working too much and too many long hours.  We not only don’t have time for our family, we also don’t have time for Jesus.

We read in the Bible about Mary and Martha and what Jesus said to Martha.  “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41,42).

We do need to work but let’s put Jesus and our family ahead of material things that are nice but we really don’t need.
