BECAUSE HE LOVES US

“And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.”
Matthew 27:35 KJV

C. Austin Miles wrote a hymn about Jesus dying for us because He loves us “Crucified”.  “Upon His head a crown of thorns, Upon His heart my shame; For me He prayed, for me He died, And dying, spoke my name.”  Have you allowed it to go from head knowledge to heart knowledge how much He loves you?

He not only died for us, He also asked God to forgive us.  “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots” (Luke 23:34).  Think about it.  Jesus had been beaten beyond recognition, spat on, rejected and mocked yet He willingly died for our sins.

I write a lot about Jesus and His unconditional love for us because if He didn’t love us with an amazing, unconditional and forgiving love, He wouldn’t have died for us.  If you ever think that nobody loves you or cares about you, remember the cross and all the pain that Jesus endured for you.

There are many people who don’t know that Jesus loves them.  They may have heard it preached that He loves them but nobody has ever proved to them that He loves them and that He loves them unconditionally.  How do we prove to people that Jesus loves them?  We prove it by our kind loving words and actions.

May God help us to be an encourager to one another and to prove how much Jesus loves us.  We know Jesus loves us but do we love Him?  Are we proving to Him we love Him?
