GOD’S BLANKET OF WARMTH

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 KJV

It is 1:00 a.m.  I had just turned off my computer and had gone to my bedroom to get ready for bed.  The weather report said it was going to get very cold so I put an extra blanket on my bed and as I was putting the extra blanket on my bed, God gave me this devotion to write so I came back in my office to write it.

What is God’s blanket of warmth?  It is the unconditional love He gave us when He gave His beloved Son to die on the cross for us.  Kurt Kaiser wrote one of my favorite hymns “O How He Loves You and Me”.  God loves us so much and He really cares about us.  We can trust our Heavenly Father to take care of us.

The words in this heart touching hymn should make us do everything we can do to make our Saviour happy.  “Jesus to Calvary did go, His love for sinners to show. What He did there brought hope from despair. Oh, how He loves you; Oh, how he loves me; Oh, how he loves you and me.”

There are times when our heart gets cold because people criticize us.  When we serve Jesus, it makes satan very angry and he will do all he can do to discourage us so much we stop serving Jesus.  We must not let that happen.  We must stay on the battlefield just as Jesus stayed on the cross for us.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving Jesus to us to be our blanket of warmth.  I love You, Heavenly Father, and I appreciate all You have done for me.  Thank You for allowing me to write devotions.  Please comfort and encourage all who are hurting.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray.  Amen.
