NOTHING

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Isaiah 6:8 KJV

Pastor Alfred H. Ackley wrote one of my favorite hymns “In the Service of the King”.  “I am happy in the service of the King.  I am happy, O so happy!  I have peace and joy that nothing else can bring, In the service of the King.”  There is nothing that can equal the happiness, peace and joy we have in serving Jesus.

On October 4, 1998, when the pastor gave the invitation, I walked down the aisle and told my pastor I felt God’s call on my life to be a missionary.  My pastor took my hand and prayed for me.  He told me not to wait until God told me what He wanted me to do but to start telling everyone that Jesus loves them.

Many years ago when I lived in Texas, my pastor preached a sermon on serving Jesus.  The pastor said “If you want to fly higher than a kite, start serving Jesus”.  The pastor was right because since I started serving Jesus, there are many times when I feel like I am flying higher than a kite.

Does this mean that I am happy all the time?  No, because satan will do all he can do to discourage us so much that we stop serving Jesus.  We must not let that happen.  We must stay on the battlefield for Jesus just as He stayed on the battlefield for us when He was here on His mission.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world” (1 Peter 5:8,9).  Don’t give up, keep serving Jesus.
